Governor Doyle disenfranchises Wisconsin voters

This is bullshit, my vote means nothing!

What could have been a great quarter joins the ranks of such classics as the TN and OH state quarters.

Reversing an advisory committee's recommendation, Gov. Jim Doyle told the U.S. Mint on Tuesday to put a cow, cheese and ear of corn on Wisconsin's commemorative quarter that will be circulated nationally in 2004.

Doyle aide Dan Leistikow said the governor made the decision because that design won an online poll, receiving 39.6% of 347,662 votes cast in voting that ended Sunday.

"Ultimately, it's Wisconsin's quarter, and he wanted the public to have final say," Leistikow said.

The governor acted minutes after the Commemorative Quarter Council voted, 12-8, to recommend the design that finished second in the online voting - the "early explorer" design that depicts a pioneer trapper, a Native American and a canoe.

1. LOL, ROTFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That is too good!

That quarter is too cheesy.

Don't have a cow, man!

Corny as hell, that coin is...

Time to move FORWARD, onto the other image:

Shouldn't the white man be raping the Indian in the picture? Our ancestors did far more to hurt the Indians than to help. Help?!

Jokes aside, I am so sorry. That coin is an outright embarrassment. Even Tommy Thompson would have done better.

Lord knows what they'll do for Minnesota: Pictures of a mosquito, a PowerBall, and Norm Coleman's grotesque face... :scared:

3. This just perpetuates a negative stereotype about Wisconsites
Dairy farming only has been around since the 1890's after the soil became depleted by wheat farming. California produces more milk than us and the number of dairy farmers in relation to the rest of the population is truly small. This design stinks and that is coming from someone who worked a summer in a cheese packaging plant.

9. I work at a cheese plant
My sister thinks it is funny because that is where someone from Wisconsin would work.

4. Gotta go with the committee here
the cheese/cow/corn design is poor coin design. It doesn't take into account the small circular medium.

The canoe design is quite nice in my opinion. It considers the small round medium, and it has the potential for being quite beautiful.

10. Well, as someone who voted for the Cow Quarter...
All I can say is "Yay."

None of the quarters impressed me all that much. I went with the cow only because my mom likes cows.
