Grrr... (the ex-Mrs. Robb rears her cheatin' head)
Grumble. :eyes:

So I'm bangin' away at two jobs just to keep afloat. The ex decides to drop me an email, as far as I can tell just to let me know she's quitting her $80K/year job to "hang out" for a few months (presumably with the homewrecker... :eyes: ) before heading off for some other, equally-overpaid position.

On the plus side, it's in another state. On the minus, it appears karma is taking its sweet time on her accounting.

I was, as ever, noncommittal yet pleasant in a "well, good for you then" reply email. Never been sorry that I held back on calling someone to the mat, but sometimes the zenmastery is indeed a test.

The best revenge is living well, I know, I know. But still.

Am I a bad person for resenting her apparent success?

Or only merely human?

Ach. :eyes:

2. All too human
My advice: Forget her. It's easier than you think.

3. no. if you didn't, you would be unusual. her time is coming. Hang
in there. looking good and living well, however that means to you, is the best revenge.

4. Human.
Very, very human.

Oh I'm a big believer in karma, too. But she might not get her cosmic comeuppance for many, many years.

Personally, what I do when I'm feeling this way is I imagine the person having a horrible, CRIPPLING case of diarrhea. Bad enough to make them cry and gasp "MOMMY!" Then I smile and feel better.

6. LOL!
Ah, GOPisEvil, where would I be without ya? :D

...and the answer is yes, and no doubt it has driven her to many countless sleepless nights, doubt leading to despair over the wreck that has become her life, and the terrible, terrible mistake she made.

And all the fun I'm having. :P

...Still wish I made that kinda bread, tho'. ;)

9. Yeah, but I'd rather be in your place.
You're richer in the ways that really count.

And you have a hot girlfriend, too. ;-)

7. what are you supposed to be a f'ing monk? resent away, ruminate
not for too long but the 'cheatin' part of the message caught my eye. once you've done this, maybe you can tell your ex how you really feel and you'll get along better with yourself. who cares about "the cheat"

13. Another spiritual truth I despise
But it's still a truth. The people you loath the most are your teachers. Seriously, your anger holds a lesson for you.

But I know it sucks that it doesn't come in a nicer package.

21. proven fact
males are more touchy about infidelity than females. very interesting subject, actually. i love evolutionary psychology.
read "the moral animal" by robert wright. anyone who believes in evolution ought to take a look at what that says about who we are, and how we think. he has a new book that i will be starting soon. called "non-zero" can't wait.

16. You know what?
It doesn't even feel good when karma works in your favor. Trust me on this.

The truth is, you know she's miserable. The money doesn't solve anything. But, and this is important, she's not really miserable about you. She's just miserable. And maybe that hurts even more.

Of course, maybe I'm just projecting here... :-)

20. Perfectly Human...
I've been there, and I get so tired of hearing "He'll get his" or "What goes around comes around." My ex was a total SOB. Cheated on me from the very beginning, not to mention abusive. I finally took the kids and left.

He's since gone through 2 other relationships where he's repeated the same patterns of cheating and abuse. And yet, I'm the one struggling to stay afloat while he continuously comes out smelling like a rose. It sucks.

Okay, I'm done whining. Just remind yourself that you're in a better place.

*smiles*
