Man survives 4-inch nail in skull. (Interesting X-Ray!!)

Dentist finds source of toothache — six days later

A dental office X-ray reveals a four-inch nail embedded in the skull of Patrick Lawler, 23. A dentist found the source of the toothache Patrick Lawler was complaining about on the roof of his mouth: a four-inch nail the construction worker had unknowingly embedded in his skull six days earlier.

8. Phineas Gage had a
3 ft/1" tamping iron shoot through his left frontal hemisphere. The main dangers here are hemorrhage and/or infection. Other than that, as long as the tissue loss is not too important...

21. I had a horrible infection in my finger
after one of the numerous times I've shot my self. The glue and coating on the nails can be nasty.

I've only shot myself in the hand/finger area and was actually shot in the leg last month in a friendly duel, which only went in about one-eighth of an inch.

I still get yelled at by my foreman for having hand by the gun. Oh well, old habits are hard to break right.

10. Oh my God.
It was painful just to look at that x-ray.

The only thing I can think is that it happened so suddenly and so cleanly that he didn't feel it. I mean the end of the nail was probably super sharp. If it wasn't, he might have felt it.

I'm sure he noticed SOMETHING, it just didn't register.

And if it didn't hurt going in, then he's only going to notice the side effects of it being in there later.
