I haven't looked at a fashion magazine in five months before today.
And I've done that on purpose. I haven't looked at ANY magazine in that time. But today, someone gave me a September 2004 copy of InStyle magazine. It's about 500 pages thick (you could hurt a person with this thing).

Funny how things look when you haven't seen them in a while. It looks even more ridiculous to me than it used to. It's one big freaking ad. Even the articles are just advertisements.

I chucked it in the recycle bin.

I think I'll continue to stay away from them. I won't know what's hot and what's not, but I think I can live with that.

1. And InStyle is one of the better ones - they usually just show the clothes
without the anorexic models posing in them. But yeah, it's all a lot of crap - I enjoy fashion, but those magazines just make me feel bad about what I can't wear or can't afford.

2. sorry, but I LOVE fashion magazines
I have subscriptions to InStyle and Lucky. Yes, they have advertisements but I dont look at them. I like to read the articles on home decore, new fashion etc.

But if you feel that it is good for you NOT to look at them, then more power to ya!

3. And same to you!
I say if you like it, have at it! I used to look at them, then did this experiment with not looking at them anymore to see how I felt about it.

4. ooh, Lucky's a good one!
I like Vogue and Elle and Bazaar (and the foreign Vogues) but they often show clothes with multiple-thousand-dollar price tags. Lucky's got good stuff at usually reasonable prices. Well, often ridiculous prices, but less crazy than Vogue etc. I like Lucky b/c it's about the shopping not about all the blah-di-blah socialite stuff.

Though honestly, Vogue often does have good articles when they're not pandering to trash like Lee Radziwill and the Bushes.
