This is a physics (optics/light) thread ... not a sex thread.
I just walked outside with the dogs in the bracing 19-degree mountain air. I stood on a short wall, just above the steps, that is about three feet above ground level on the back-yard side. To my back were two flood lights, in a dual fixture, aimed more-or-less to either side of me.

I glanced down at my shadow. Between the shadow of my legs was another shadow, which looked like an appendage of between 18-24". I spread my stance and the shadow "appendage" shrank. As I close my stance again, it "grew." What on earth is this process of light and/or optics? It would make a great photo-op, but a flash would ruin the effect.

1. sounds like intersecting shadows
a little shadow from one leg, a little shadow from the other leg from the other angle. And where they intersected, extra dark. Legs move apart, the shadow legs would intersect less.

You could photograph with no flash, just use a tripod, makeshift if you need it, and leave the exposure nice and long.

2. overlapping shadows
caused by dual light sources aimed in the same general direction.
