"There is nothing wrong with your television set .....

There is nothing wrong with your television set. Do not attempt to adjust the picture. We are controlling the transmission. If we wish to make it louder, we will bring up the volume. If we wish to make it softer, we will tune it to a whisper. We will control the horizontal. We will control the vertical. We can roll the image; make it flutter. We can change the focus to a soft blur or sharpen it to crystal clarity. For the next hour, sit quietly and we will control all that you see and hear. We repeat: there is nothing wrong with your television set. You are about to participate in a great adventure. You are about to experience the awe and mystery which reaches from the inner mind to the Outer Limits.

Control Voice from "The Outer Limits"

Is this the greatest science fiction T.V.series ever?

I just got the 1st season on DVD and a can't stop watching! I can only remember seeing the show a few times when a was a kid and I had forgotten how good this show was. Here are a few of my favorite episodes:

1. " The Man Who Was Never Born" With the great Martin Landau, sent to the past to change a horrible future.

2. " O.B.I.T " In which mankind is under constant surveillance by the Outer Band Individuated Teletracer. A chilling tell in which man's every move is observed and no privacy exists.

3. " Fun and Games" in which a young Nick Adams and Nancy Malone, are transported to a distant planet by an alien from Andera. There they must fight 2 hideous creatures from another world. Lose, and the Earth will be destroyed!

4."Nightmare" Martin Sheen and fellow soldiers are captured by the hideous Ebonites, monstrous aliens who subject them to brutal interrogation, but things may not be as they seem....

5. " The Architects of Fear" A group of scientist try to unite mankind by inventing a common enemy. They surgically transform one of their own into an alien in the hope that his arrival will unite mankind, but things don't always work as planned....

Let me know your favorite "Outer Limits" episode.

1. 'The Inheritors'
Season 2, Episodes 10 & 11
First aired: November 21 & November 28, 1964

Lt. Phillip Minns is on combat duty in Vietnam when he is shot in the head by enemy fire. But that is not the end for Lt. Minns...instead, it is the beginning. Minns makes a miraculously complete recovery and returns to the States. Using intelligence vastly greater than what he possessed before, he sets about acquiring a fortune through stock manipulation and engages in a mysterious project with several other veterans who have also been shot in the head.

This comes to the attention of the U.S. Department of Science, who assign Adam Ballard to investigate Minns' case. Ballard learns that Minns' brainwaves exactly match those of the other three soldiers, Hadley, Renaldo and Conover. Moreover, each man was shot by bullets made from a peculiar kind of ore. The ore was recovered from a meteorite and seems to be impregnated with alien RNA.

Ballard struggles to put the pieces of the puzzle together. He traces Hadley to Wichita and discovers a workshop working on peculiar propulsion systems. Hadley himself is already gone. Next, Ballard tracks Conover to Sweden and finds another amazing invention—a superlight alloy stronger than steel. But again Conover is gone. Finally, in Tokyo, he meets and confronts Renaldo, who has invented both an impenetrable force field and an anti-gravity drive. Renaldo seems to be under the control of an outside impulse—his personality and memories remain the same, but his intelligence is greatly augmented—and he is compelled to work on the mysterious project. When Ballard threatens to take Renaldo in, he suddenly finds himself in Minnesota two weeks later...Renaldo simply took control of Ballard's mind and told him to leave!
