An undetermined number of snow squalls is parading my way.
Winds of 30-40 MPH off of Lake Michigan producing snow squalls.

Stupid squalls.

1. Squalls are very nice roasted with a little garlic
and served with a lemon-butter sauce.

2. Perhaps you're thinking of a squab.
Or even a squirrel. We certainly have plenty of either of them around here. :hi:

3. Getting a bit of that over here on the coast of the Atlantic. I am on the
beach near Coney Island and can usually see the Verrazano Bridge out my window...but not today. Nothing but white. Since 11AM we now have about 5 inches of snow on my porch. Very windy and a brisk 20 degrees.

4. The front passed through early this morning.......
....but the trailing edge of the low pressure system is causing a very brisk and cold wind to travel down the lake and is dumping another 6 to 10 inches of lake effect snow here in NE Illinois and NW Indiana.

Right now were experiences white out conditions with lot's of blowing and drifting. But....lake effect snow is very light and fluffy. Really pretty.

Good luck out there. It looks like you're really gonna get hammered.

7. We're expecting 12-24" in Boston, w/50 MPH wind gusts
There's only about 5" on the ground now. We get wicked winds off the ocean that can bring in snow squalls. The weather idiots are expecting 30" on the Cape-the place that usually gets very little snow.

8. Mmmm.........Boston Creme Squall.........
Well go grab a drink and keep us updated. We're almost finished with our worst storm so far this season.

Yesterday we got hit by the front, today we got hit by the wraparound.

Hang in there.

11. You guys get that lake-effect crap like we get squalls off the harbor
I made homemade Swedish meatballs tonight and mixed myself a hot toddy.

Tomorrow I'm making homemade chicken soup...this kind of weather makes me want to cook comfort food.

How much snow did you guys get in Chicago?

14. It's rare for Chicago to get a lot of lake effect snow.
Edited on Sat Jan-22-05 10:12 PM by XNASA
Which is another term for squalls.

Usually Michigan gets a lot of it since the cold air usually moves west to east. But this time, low pressure is moving east and the wraparound got us.

In the city there might be a couple of feet in places. Down here, 20 miles south of downtown, we got about a foot.

10. The cleanup crews have their hands full with this one.
When you start talking about snow in terms of feet rather than inches, you know you're dealing with one hell of a storm.

13. The snow crews don't concern themselves with feet or inches.
The only thing they're concerned with is "Overtime Hours".
