Beautiful tribute for Johnny Carson on CNN, Larry King.
Many old friends, lots of great stories. Has anyone seen this/watched it?

1. I really liked Johnny a lot
I was just talking the other day about wishing he would do a special or something. You know on his last Tonight Show, he said he wasn't retiring and that he would be back. But I guess he changed his mind.

2. Johnny...
I know, after May of 1992, he became the Invisible Man and only showed up in an occasional magazine interview or as a subject of a tabloid. After 30 years of continually being in the limelight, I guess he'd had enough. This is really sad, though.

3. I'll bet Letterman will have a great tribute tomorrow
Assuming he's doing a show tomorrow.

4. unfortunately, he's a rerun tomorrow
I was looking forward to seeing his tribute, until I found out he's a repeat. I'm sure Jay Leno will be appropriately phony though. :(

5. Leno...
I hated that SOB. Letterman should've gotten "Tonight". Leno is not nor has he ever been funny.

7. The only time Leno was ever funny
was when he was a guest on Daves' old show and they would do the "whats your beef?" bit. Even then Dave was funnier than Leno.

9. I totally agree with you
The heads are saying that Carson "made" Letterman and Leno. But more accurately, Carson made Letterman, and Letterman, in turn, made Leno. I'm sure Dave regrets his creation.

8. Unless Letterman is totally unavailable
I'd suspect he'd make it back Monday for a Carson tribute. If not, not big deal, but he'll obviously be the one to watch. Leno may have the authorized NBC clips, but Letterman has the Carson approval and cache.

10. I hope you're right
I had thought about that myself. It would be really cool if Dave does a new show just for that purpose. Given how tv networks work, I won't hold my breath, but it would be ultimately cool!

11. I missed it. Darn.
They will probably replay it though. Sounds like a nice show (despite Larry King :shudder: ).

13. Ok. I'll watch that. Thanks.
I wouldn't have really thought Ed would've outlived Johnny. Weird.
