blatant propaganda for those considering a new washing machine
buy the front loader it rocks!

I have the basic Kenmore front loader; not the miniature stacker, but the more or less standard one. It only uses 14 gallons of water per load, and when the clothes are done, they are nearly dry.

Plus they don't tangle all up in the agitator because there isn't one

Clothes get very clean too.

It is Energy Star rated, and very quiet and can be installed under a counter.

I put mine on the 9 inch pedestal base, which means I no longer have to stoop and stretch to get the clothes out of the washing machine..better for my back.

2. varies, but I got mine on sale for around $550
it is a more expensive machine but you save on water and electricity and wear and tear on clothes.

Clothes don't take so long to dry.

It is nearly always featured in the Sears flyers in the Sunday Papers

6. wash a sleeping bag in it, that ought to do it. Seriously, my
husband assassinated our 1998 GE washer with a sleeping bag. The strings on the hood escaped and wrapped around the agitator, threw the whole thing out of alignment, ultimately blowing a hole in the outer tank.

I never liked that GE anyway, the little switch that allows it to spin broke about 6 months into the life of that machine and my husband had to gerry rig it several times. I accused him of murdering it on purpose.

Anyway, I got mine front loader when Sears was doing a 0% interest for 6 months and paid it off in installments with no interest.

Worth every dime...I do not have the dryer yet, since the GE dryer hasn't died yet. I don't like it much either. I have decided I will not buy anymore GE major appliances again.

Oh yeah, Frigidaire makes the frontloader for Sears, and they also have this model.

3. Just purchase the maytag
duet and it is terrific. Expensive but the wrinkle free is terrific. Amazing.

5. In Europe
they have front-loader washer-dryers.

You put your dirty clothes in,
punch the buttons for the wash,
punch the buttons for the dry
and come back when the stuff is clean and dry.

There is a space for putting in a whole pack of detergent
and the other cleaning fluids.

They sell a very small very-hard-to-come-by washer-dyer
in the US that is made by Haier.

(Most people look at me like I am crazy when I talk about this but I swear,
they DO exist.)

7. I have seen them, at Fry's I think. Many long years ago, there
was a washer dryer combo available for the home..made by Maytag I think. It did not last long because the agitator style became popular and front loaders went out of fashion so the combo unit sort of disappeared. Now it is making a comeback.
