2. Intro to Political Science
I took an AP Political Science course in high school. College Intro is basically the same thing as AP high school.

5. Good deal...
Though in my wine induced stupor I cannot think of a reasonable question to ask... oh... here's one.... Why do some people look at FDR as a conservative by implementing the New Deal?

6. I'm gonna take a wild stab at it:
I'm gonna guess that the reason is because he was able to bring the banks back into production and was also able to stabalize interest rates.

9. Close...
The main reason was that he had a chance to change the American economic system to something other than capitalism, but chose to implement measures that would revitalize the capitalist system, including a focus on big business.

3. Why did big city mayors want to shut down community action groups...
in the late 60's? Or I should say, why did big city mayors want the federal government to drastically cut funding to community action groups in the late 60's?

4. First off, some of them were controlled by gangs.
Edited on Thu Feb-03-05 03:58 AM by SmileyBoy
But the gangs had good intentions. The Crips in LA and the Vicelords in Chicago were good examples. The governments saw the gang leadership and decided it wasn't worth the risk.

Second off, once Nixon took power, they were just going to be cut anyway.

8. What they wanted was more local control over the programs
It wasn't that they wanted the programs abolished, but they did not want the federal government bypassing local authorities when it came to assessing the unique problems of poverty in particular communitties. Gradually local control was re-asserted.

7. Anything?
So..
Compare and contrast Napollian the III with the Hapsburgs and how they caused the Anglo/Franco tension in the 18th century to result in a 30 years war.

11. Which came first, the Cuban Missle Crisis, or the Bay of Pigs?
I had a poli sci professor who got that one backwards. I had to correct him in classe.

12. Is conservatism actually an ideology?
Many it would argue that it predates the actual term (which arose during the French Revolution), and indeed that the first use of the term describes tings which are inimical to conservatism.

I may be a tad rusty on this one, it was about three years ago that I studied it.
