Who sang this? "I wish to be matched with her"
This is driving me crazy. I'm up in the middle of the night because I can't sleep because I have this one phrase stuck in my head and I can't remember what song it's from or what creepy guy sang/spoke it!

Help! Does anyone recognize this line from some song?

I even woke up Mr. Yardwork but he told me to go back to bed and wouldn't help.

You sounded desperate. I did a search and came up with this.

Stop Hurting People

A love born once must soon be born again
A spark that burned, then died, leaving cinders to be fanned
By the wind and thrown to flame;
Flames like tongues impassioned in a moments burst.
Tell me friend - why do you stand aloof from your own heart?
The truth confronts you - the truth confronts you as the sea
Crushing without detail,
Impassioned and detached,
Killing with love and power in God's Name.
Love conquers poses. Love smashes stances. Love crushes angles
Into black. So you, without question, know your first love
Is your last. And you, will never - never - Love again
I always wished to walk with her into resteraunts, (A clammy tale).
To be seen beside her at the public bar footrail.
I always wanted to be matched with her -
Yet her beauty was so different to mine.
My "beauty" needs an understanding, a knowledge of what I am.
Hers is enough. Earned through eons; for that is what true beauty is -
Time's gift to perfect humility.
May I be matched with you again
I know the match is bad
But God help me -
May I be matched with you again
- without your match there is no flame

on edit: I'm winding down. Hope to cross paths again. Munch some Swedish Fish for me.

Of course it was Pete. How could I forget?!

Thank you. How did you do the search, if you don't mind sharing? I googled everyway I could think of and nothing came up.

Copernic Agent for searches. You can download it at http://www.copernic.com/en/products/agent/download.html

It uses multiple search engines (Google, Alta Vista, Teoma, etc.) to find things. Since it is a program on your computer you can also save your searches for later. This comes in handy for me as I tend to get the right combination of search terms only to forget them later. I'm not sure what features the free download has but my version allows me to refine/narrow my searches.

'Night.

on edit: I searched for the exact phrase "matched with her" and it was the third hit.
