15. I hate it when people mock Chinese. I just can't stand it. *shrug*
Edited on Fri Feb-11-05 08:02 PM by latteromden
You know, "I speak Chinese, 'Ching chong wu fong, etc. etc.'" I like to respond with, "Ni bu shuo zhongwen. Ben dan." (You don't speak Chinese. Fool.) I didn't spend four years (and counting) on the language to get made fun of.

Coincidentally, Bush's name is translated to "Bu shi" (shi sounds like English "sure"), which also means "is not." So, you get "Bu shi hui," which is either "Bush is smart" or "is not smart," or it could be a play on words to confuse (Chinese-speaking?!) Freepers meaning "Bush is NOT smart." (I've obviously spent way too much time thinking about this...)

I enjoy dabbling in different cultures, movies, books and such, and Asian culture, especially Chinese culture interests me. I enjoy different languages and accents. The little girl I sponser in Childreach is in China, and I always enjoy getting the letters and looking at the writing.

I hate when I post a message in a thread and someone responds to my message...not because they really want to respond to my message, but because my message just happens to be at the end of the thread they just read and instead of hitting the reply button on the original post, they reply to mine while responding to the original poster. Annoys the hell out of me.

I know it's silly but damn! Hit "reply" to the actual message you want to reply to!!! Otherwise, it doesn't make any sense.

53. How about "medium", you know, the grassy thing in the road
that separates the lanes...LOL. "For all intensive purposes" is another one that irks me. It's "intents and purposes", ya moran!!

I also had a co-worker(I work in law enforcement) who would always tell arrestees he was dealing with to "tell it to the public offender". The thing is, he wasn't wry enough to come up with such a play on words, and I knew he probably really thought it was public offender and not defender, so it bugged me.

Also, "nucular" ticks me off.

That is all, for now. :)

Anyway, I can't stand the sudden wave of finacial advice commercials that are bombarding my television. Oh, and anybody who thinks a talking baby is funny (Stewie Griffin as the exception). Oh, and people who ride your ass while driving, even though you're already going ten miles above the speed limit. GET IN THE OTHER LANE, JERKASS! I'M NOT GOING TO GO ANY FASTER FOR YOU! Oh, and people who have more than one "support our troops" ribbons on their vehicle. I counted five the other day on one vehicle. Yeesh.

62. Restaurants that mincrowave food in styrofoam containers.
I know, I know, it's a freaky thing, but I have a good reason for it. Once a restaurant gave me my leftovers to take home in a styrofoam container, which they had sealed with some tape that assured me "This container is microwavable."

Well, they lied. And there is nothing more nausiating than heating your food up and opening the microwave to find your container has melted into your food. Melted styrofoam smell like burnt plastic, and mixed with my leftovers... well, it's taken me years to be able to eat beef stroganoff again.

Edited on Fri Feb-11-05 11:07 PM by SmileyBoy
That 1) We don't have a conference for all sports and 2) We won't be playoff eligible in all sports until 2008.

I watch college basketball on ESPN, and think how lucky all those other schools are to be in a conference.

Our only two sports in a conference are Football and Wrestling.

Being an Independent SUCKS THE BIG ONE.
