I'm HOME ALONE on VALENTINE'S DAY... Any Advise?
My husband died a few years back in a tragic, unexpected accident. It's raining here, and feeling a little blue. Any advise? My dog's depressed, too. :(

Yet, I want to wish all DU'ers a HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!

2. Do something special for yourself
Like order a nice dinner at your favorite restaurant either for eat-in or call it in to bring home and enjoy.

Get yourself a scrumptious dessert too!

Rent a good movie, and curl up with your doggie. :)

9. Not a bad idea!
Maybe I will order something good to eat. Watch a good DVD and curl up with the dog. Poor old guy. He's been with me since we lost my husband. Talk about man's best-friend, he's this woman's best friend.

Thank you for caring enough to post. Feel not so alone, already.

21. Aw I'm so sorry
 I'm glad you have your dog though. We used to have a dog and he was definietly a best friend. I'd go with the other advice as well. Don't worry you're not the only one without anybody today. Valentine's day has always sucked. Heh heh.

30. Thanks FreedomAngel82!
Thank you. It does suck. Heading up right now for that hot bath and then spending sometime tossing the old ball around for my best friend, my dog. And as an added touch, I vow not to curse the Chimp & Co's name for an entire hour... well, I'm sincerely going to try anyway.

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY TO ALL DU'ERS! See Repuks, what you're missing from you're fellow Americans. Someday, you'll awaken... I hope before it's too late.

7. Go out on your own...and not to dinner...
dinner alone on Vday would be too depressing. Go to a really good movie..and pig down on movie junk food...just go for whatever. When i was alone, i loved doing that movie alone stuff...if not that...head for the bathtub with a bottle of champaine and a bowl of strawberrys...and just soak in luxury.

16. A Hot Bath is sounding better with each passing minute.
A good movie, munchies and soaking in a hot tub! Then a big  for my best friend, my 10 year old Lab. Poor guy. When his mistress (me) gets down, so does he.

Dogs are amazing, aren't they. Thank you MexicoxPat. Thank you.

be sure to drink your champaine in a really nice wine glass...a really nice one..if you dont do champaine..still use the really nice glass and fill it up with juice or whatever u like to drink...and add some really nice scented candles to the bathroom..and just use those for light. i dont have a bathtub here in mexico..and i really miss it..ha..guess you can tell! If you dont have a really, really nice wine glass..go out and buy yourself one for valintines day..and then use it everyday...every morning to drink you orange juice from..it really makes a difference..to do these little things when you are alone. Hope you have a great night.

31. You, too!
Heading up right now for that much needed hot bath to soak and forget my troubles. Rather, I wanted to extend a special "thank you" for showing me that other's can have it worse. As you mentioned, you have no bath tub at all. I'm sorry for you in Mexico.

I'd tell you to "come on up here," but you're probably better off down there for the moment till we can figure out what they hey we're doing! LOL Thank you, MexicoxPat! Have a super day! Shall drink one or two, maybe three and toast to you!

Esta la Vista, baby! Or, something like that.

No matter which TV, up or down, a reminder comes on and auto-switches to his show. I can not go to bed without watching Jon. Have been following his career since way back when!

4. When I'm feeling a little blue
I take a nice long hot shower, put on my most comfy pj's and get a favorite book to read!

It will help pass the time and keep your mind off things.

I hope you are feeling a little better tomorrow. I can feel fo you!

18. I'm sorry for your loss
I'm alone this V-Day too but not for such tragic reasons.

Realize that this is a manufactured holiday designed to sell candy, flowers and cards and many, many people are like us, spending it with our pets or totally alone. Hey, maybe I'll pick up some liverwurst for my doggie on the way home from work. The great part is that she'll meet me at the door with love and kisses even before I open the wrapper.

Take care. :loveya:

24. I have been alone on Valentine's Day...
First.. I'm sending you and your doggy some sunshine from 'rainy' Seattle area. We don't need it right now. I'm so sorry to hear about your husband.

When I'm alone and blue on Valentine's Day, I prefer to really wallow in it. This really works. Find a sappy movie, serve your dog's dinner on a nice plate, light candles, get some chocolate.. and just cry a bit, feel sorry for yourself for a little while.. and just be. I find that if I really stop trying to be feeling better, and just go a bit theatrical in my blueness, then it stops.. and I naturally find my way out. Force yourself to wallow a bit, (you deserve it), then you'll right yourself naturally. Then, put on some great music and play hide and go seek with your dog. No dog can resist hide and go seek. :loveya:

26. Wow! What great advice! Come to think of it, it used to work
really well for me when I was 'tween.

A little silver jewlery, some chocolate, a 2 hankie movie, my dog. And Van Morrison.

And the next morning, I woke up all betta.

Someone bookmark this for us all.

29. A Valentine to the World's Women

A Valentine to the World's Women

Wish #21: For a Celebration of Peace
~ by Cory Jeager

Let us imagine
we have found
the ancient circles
of womb,
of world.

Women are circling--
their hands and hopes
linking
around kitchen tables--
and nations.

We echo the cry of the tortured ones
and those pelted with stones,
and we will stand strong--
our unrelenting prayer
breaking the spear.
