1. Well that's what they call us
but from the way we see it it's actually called being educated and believing in a separation of church and state. Everything is relative.

8. No - but maybe yes?
The parents both grew up and were educated in northeastern secular elitist liberal intellectual enclaves...

moved to the midwest for the Dad to be a prof at a U with lots of other prof kids of parents who grew up and were educated at northeastern secular elitist intellectual enclaves... only in college when folks compared my accent (pretty much absent) to a "native" from my home town (pretty strong accent) did I give much thought to the pervasive influence of the northeastern secular elitist liberal intellectual enclave reestablished in a midwestern University town, effect.

Does that even part way qualify?

Funny thing about secular elitist liberals is they dont watch sitcoms and they dont go to stupid damn movies.

SO WHO THE HELL IS SUPPORTING "LIBERAL AMERICA HATIN' HOLLYWOOD"

Some insight can be discovered a number of places 'round the midwest, specifically "church groups" like youth or singles groups. They dont go out and "party" so it is

ALWAYS

Pizza and a movie!

or Pizza and a silly sitcom w/o adult words!

on and on...

15. if you will count Pittsburgh as in the northeast,
then yes....

Is Pittsburgh midwest or northeast? PA is a northeast state, the city is old and laid out not unlike a northeastern city; Yet we are on the fringe of the midwest and many have a more midwest slant to them...

Help me - i have been on this question for almost 30 years....

I'm a long haired country boy, blue collar union man from the midwest that loved living in the South for a few years. I bowl, I used to go fishing with my Dad, I appreciate the common beliefs of most world religions, and I don't like people who think a point is more valid just because you use $10 words like Noam Chomsky.

34. Southern secular liberal...
...and I don't know where I stand on the "elitist" bit. I often feel like "liberal elitists" are looking down on me for whatever reason, and I don't have a lot in common with them so I'm not too comfortable there. But I'm too different to fit in with "regular" people, either. So I'm somewhere in between; somewhere on my own, I guess, when it comes to that classification.

Otherwise, no. And I think the correct definition of elitist is:
"is interested in restraining corporate power, cares about the environment, and is not interested in forcing own religious views on others"

Northeastern secular liberal is OK.

I've been living in Florida for the last 3 years. However, I lived in New England for every year of my life before these last 3 years. We're going to be moving back to the New England area in 3 months too (yippee!). I just feel like I belong there, and I want to raise my son in place that feels like home to me.

Midwestern (hopefully not for much longer), atheist, and very liberal. According to the dictionary definition of elitist:

The belief that certain persons or members of certain classes or groups deserve favored treatment by virtue of their perceived superiority, as in intellect, social status, or financial resources.

...that's definitely not me. However, when talking to Repubs, I admittedly do feel intellectually superior at times, but can you blame me? Other than that, definitely not. An "elitist" seems to be diametrically opposed to liberal thought, actually.

Elitist? - I don't think so. I think "liberal elitists" are a fictional product of the conservative media machine.

Liberal? You betcha!
