I want to know the best Cheap-assed wines
Please limit suggestions to things that are under $5 for a 750 ml bottle and less than $10 for a 1.5 liter bottle. Jugs and boxes are cool too.

1. "Two Buck Chuck" at Trader Joe's
a.k.a. Charles Shaw wines.

Well worth it if you can get them. The chardonnay, cabernet sauvignon, and sirah are all good.

You only drown cats in really good wine? Do you drink if afterwards?

Just curious...

Ok, it's over your price limit by a buck but it beats the hell out of Boone's Farm. In Boston I can get it for $5.99. Great light spanish red wine - tempranillo and garnacha.

Also try Casal Garcia's Vinho Verde - I think it comes in at just under $5.00. Fizzy and very green white Portuguese wine.

It doesn't taste really bad, but it sorta sneaks up on you and tales of Cisco induced psychotic behavior are fairly common.

24. Castle Rock and Columbia Crest wines are OK.
For bargain priced wines.

The general rule of thumb is to find a type of wine you enjoy, in my case I generally prefer Merlot, then you can look for the words "Estate Bottled" as a sign that the quality is good. When you start seeing a lot of words on the label like "bottled" or "vinted" or worst of all "produced" then you should stay away. "Produced" could mean anything.

Like I said, I just usually find a nice California Merlot for around $8, and I'm happy.

I can get it for around $5-$6 and they have pretty good Shiraz. If you wanna spend a little more, around $10, I'd choose Fat Bastard.
