1. When I was in the service....

a friend of mine asked me to go on a double date with him, his girlfriend and her best friend. We spent a day in Idlewild at the beach and we did some partying. That night on the way back to Philly my date was extremely fucked up. We were in the backseat of the car. She hadn't said anything for awhile. Suddenly she nudged me and said, "Here" and handed me her camera. I was kinda drunk also. I was thinking, "why did she give me her camera? Does she want me to take a picture of her or something". I looked over at her and her chin was on her chest and puke was running out of her mouth and down her shirt. She was trying to be real quite but I couldn't help it, I snapped a picture of her. The flash caused her friend to look around and see what was happening. She started screaming at me and was pissed. My date kept saying, "He took a picture of me".

My date was alright and suffered no lasting ill effects, but, we never went out again.

2. The Voodoo Chick
I briefly dated this weird woman. In fact she kept asking me if I thought she was weird. Being polite, I always said no. Though intuition kept screaming, "RUN AWAY!!!". Well she decided that her flat was haunted. So she performed an exorcism. Burning candles. Rattling rattles. Pouring salt (or was it sugar) in all the corners. Then painting the entire floor of her flat with a mixture of bay rum, bown sugar and her own urine. You should have seen the pile up in the door way as the ghosts and I scrambled to get the hell out of there.

3. First date
I order my meal and he says, "Don't eat that, you'll get fat."

Date ended that second.

I got "fixed up" on a date with a woman who was practically screwing a guy on the floor of the bar where we went to meet her.

I tried to be good natured about it and let it slide and keep my friends, who had fixed me up, from being overly embarrassed..

The story has a funny punch-line. The woman was a good friend of my then best friend's wife so I encountered her again at one of their parties. She was very apologetic about our first date, saying the guy she was with was a freaky ex-boyfriend. I guess I didn't hold a grudge - though I don't remember much of it - because in a short while we were drinking heavily and got really, really drunk together. The next morning I woke up next to her in bed and when she started talking to me, although she was very pretty, I realized she was as dumb as a stump. This wasn't the sort of thing that happened to me very often, waking up in bed next to a complete stranger, and so I was trying to think of a graceful and polite way to get rid of her.

She was still apologizing for our first date and started to tell me how when she'd thought I'd be some kind of loser owing to another "fix up" she'd gotten from the same couple who had fixed me up with her. In explaining her dissatisfaction with that earlier date, she began to describe the guy who was my housemate at the time, a gentle but exotic looking guy. She apparently didn't know I was living with him, and started complaining about his tatoo's, his feathered ear-ring and so on. (This was the early 1980's and that sort of "look" was less acceptable than it is today.) She asked me if I knew that guy. I said that I did in fact, and I offered to go to the next room and get him.

She was gone in less than an hour and I never saw her again. I'm really, really, really thankful I didn't get a disease from her.
