Hummers -- What's the point?????
Before people jump to conclusions, I'm dead serious.

I was out driving today and I literally saw 6 or 7 Hummers. I really want to know -- what's the point? I've always driven smaller cars -- even when I could afford something bigger. I like being able to maneuver them, fit into smaller spots, and get decent gas mileage.

Those things are just ridiculous to look at -- they are audacious and overbearing. So someone, please give me a sense as to why someone would think they needed something like that.

10. LOL
no sex threads! That is kind of the point.

Parry boys often know that party girls like bad boys - the kind that have tatoos and piercings. These girls ESPECIALLY like bad boys with money and driving a Hummer is very suggestive of this. There will be a never ending line of women waiting to sleep with such men.

8. The H2 is a huge joke...
It's a poorly designed truck built on an already-existing conventional truck platform (Suburban).

The H1 (the original HUMVEE) is a very capable and well-designed utility vehicle. AS it's considerably more expensive than the S2, you will find that this is the one purchased py someone with more of a practical "need" for such a vehicle.

I love to go 4x4ing... If I could afford a gov't surplus H1, I'd get one...in diesel.

38. Been there...
My personal pet peeve is sanctamonious asshats who are also driving, and therefore also contributing to global warming, consumption of finite resources, clogging the roads, endangering lives, and contributing to the factured nature of suburban society, feeling smug about flipping off some guy in an H2.

I call them the "Toyota Pious".

Basically, if you drive anything, you're part of the problem (and I include myself in that blanket condemnation). The difference between driving an SUV and a hybrid Honda is a matter of degrees.

All of a sudden, if you drive an SUV, you're an asshole. Seems like an unfair and convenient generalisation, to me.

Why does driving a car that, in some cases is actually wider than the road, display status better???

Hummers only look macho.

But a fire truck --- Now that's macho and public service at the same time.

I always wanted to drive a fire truck and save lives. (The closest I got was driving a Coast Guard Cutter and recovering bodies)

29. Personally, I find smaller cars far more satisfying to drive.
My next car will be a Toyota Corolla. Wish I could afford a Prius or something hybrid.

Back in college, I drove a VW Rabbit. My best friend had a Corolla. I used to love to drive both of those cars. You really know you're driving in a small car, especially when they have no power steering.

You can fit into tight spaces, negotiate your way through traffic more easily, etc.

I LOVE small cars.

39. Perhaps they were HINOs?
If someone needs all that space and power for a good reason, I won't hate on him/her.

I will, however, take a dim view of anyone trying to justify that many gallons per mile, especially as a commuter vehicle--but maybe, just maybe, there are jobs for which they really are well-suited and efficient.

45. it;'s status
I see no other reason. If you want a tough, off road vehicle, I don't see how a Hummer serves that function. They are too wide and I would think they'd be extremely cumbersome. I understand that people who live in areas with a lot of snow have a reason for a four wheel drive SUV. The Hummer I don't get.

FYI. I don't hate people who drive Hummers, though I resent their choice to do so. I hate the cars.
