BIOS this!
In the 15 years I've worked with PCs, I've NEVER had a BIOS flash update fail.

Well, it failed. :wow:

Thanks to Award's bootblock BIOS, some intrepidity, and lots of prozac, I managed to repair my BIOS.

Funny thing is; the new version (7D_27) that replaced the 2 year old (7D_10) also upgraded the Award bios version from 1.0 to 6.0. I've never yet seen this happen, but my system seems to work fine since the upgrade. Even better, actually. (all my other Award-based PCs; when upgrading their BIOSes, still say 1.0. Kinda threw me off, but I know the version I installed is the correct one, so who knows...)

Best of all, SuSE Linux 9.2 Pro found all the changes made for the onboard hardware, so I'm happy once again! :D

2. Sorry, I can't afford it. Besides, I'd rather think differently.
I could build three upper-middle PCs ($700 * 3) for the price of one upper-middle level Mac ($2100 * 1). So if I did screw up, I wouldn't necessarily need to buy a replacement. Now THAT is thinking.

And Macs? You have to do it the Mac way or the highway. That isn't thinking different. That ain't even thinking! :P I'll admit I am enamored with OS X, but I ain't keen with Apple right now, given the iPod's poor battery life, the petitions to get Apple to grow the fuck up and replace the product instead of shoving them up some foreign country's dump to leak chemicals... what the hell was Apple's board thinking when they decided to cut corners to make more money? (let alone who's on the board, I feel disgusted... seems that when it's outside the political table, it's always more important to make money regardless of the consequences. Fucking insipid. Not just disgusted. Betrayed. We all should be.) Don't believe me? Look up http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=ipod+iwaste and find more. www.badapple.biz has more too. Here's a nice site too: http://www.svtc.org/media/photo/cc_apple_jan10.htm

Apple = blue? Only because they poisoned themselves from their own products they're haphazardly throwing out. x( x( x( More proof that politicians on BOTH Red and Blue seem to shoot their white off on the Green (money).

3. lol!
didn't know i'd open up a wound like that!

it was mostly a joke. all computers and computer producers have their own problems. i'm not a pc fan, bc of the constant maintenence you have to do on the software. i haven't once had a problem *knocks on wood* with osx.

i'll admit, i'm not objective on it: i have to have a mac bc that's what our school gives us. but it's my choice bc of the ease of use and the pretty much foolproof engineering they have. i'm not a fool, i've modded my mac, and am thinking about learning mac programming languages, but it's nice to not have to worry about accidentally deleting an important file, or whatever. just my two cents.
