I need to join a support group.

Yesterday, I bought a lighted curio cabinet to store my crystal treasures in, and I have to put it together.

I got so damned frustrated.

After 2 hours I said "fuck it".

Much like Homer Simpson when he tried to build his barbeque grill.

:pout:!!!!!!!

1. Hi Midori. My name is Austin and I'm hygenically challenged.
My feet ALWAYS stink. Even after a day-long bath.

3. I am short too...
I refuse to put anything together anymore. Too many mistakes and pieces of furniture falling apart. If you go to a Crate and Barrel or something that sells assembly-required furniture, they will usually give you a number for an assembly service. It usually isn't that expensive and it saves alot of frustration.

I have a put together shelf for DVD's that was falling apart. I tried to put it back together yesterday, and ended up taking it apart and putting it in its box. :hi:

8. I wonder -- is this a female thing?
not trying to sound sexist. I know several women who are good at assembling things. But I know more women who suck at it.

15. hehehehehe...
I was just making a 'sexist' joke... but I know what you mean!

I did technical writing for a while, and accepted the job mostly because I thought I'd like the chance to provide instructions that were actually useful.

18. Now now
I'm pretty darn good at putting things together. It was my ex-boyfriend that I had to go behind and re-do, tighten and generally make sure he didn't kill himself or the both of us when working on a "project." Thank gawd he only did them about once every three years.

Can't help tonight or tomorrow night (state committee meeting and J/J dinner), but I can help you put whatever together on Wednesday if you'd like.

SEM :)

10. mmmm broke mongo fix
wish I could help you out there. I love doing work with my hands.

I designed and built a 4ft wide foot-bridge that was 32ft long with a 24ft span once, capable of supporting 1000+ lbs. All put up by hand with no equiptment other than power hand tools, and some good friends.

That was after the old bridge which was two pine logs with pallets nailed between them broke while I was on it! Ten foot drop into the creek.

Don't get to do too much stuff like that anymore. Sure would like to build a house before I'm too old.

17. Will and I have it down to a science
First, we move the box into the house, being sure to squash someone's fingers. Next, we open the box, being sure to scatter all the bits and pieces. Then, and only then, we realize we should have put the dogs away. So, once the dogs are out of the, we put all the bits and pieces into a big bowl and start assembling. Once assembly begins, we bitch, backbite, and snarl at each other until things reach a boiling point in the middle of building the piece. "Fuck yous" are ritually exchanged, followed by the period of stony silence, which is broken by one or the other of us giggling like an idiot. Coca-Cola is shared, a seat is taken, TV is watched, then we finish the project six hours after we started. Et voila, we end up with extra, unexplained pieces that make us wonder just how safe the damn thing is to begin with.
