1. Back in the 80s
I was high and my bike had no brakes. I had weed in my pocket and I was really paranoid when the cops and paramedics came. I was all right except for a few minor scratches and bruises.

2. I was, on a bicycle
A car was coming out of a parking lot so it was pretty low speed and only a couple of bruises. Freaked out the driver more than me.

3. No, but the kid right behind me was!
Some friends and I were were crossing the street, and I guess he wasn't fast enough. He was a good six feet behind me. The car's bumper hit his foot as as he was running, knocked him ass over end. He was fine, just shook him up. Not the brightest star in the sky, that one.

4. As a McDonald's drive thru worker, someone once backed into me
while I was running an order out. And once I hit a policeman, but that's a story for another time.

5. yeah but not hard
The fool ran a red light but fortunately he wasn't up to speed.

If you're talking about hit by a car while IN another car, sure, several times, it is dangerous out there. Been injured a couple of times too. But only once have I been hit as a pedestrian, knock on wood.

6. My sister has....
She was four and she went to tell on me for hitting her (or something) and she got hit by a VW bug. This was 1973. She broke both her legs and spent the summer in casts. I brought her ice cream out of guilt. :-)

7. My daughter was in late January
Three broken ribs and VERY lucky that's all it was. She can't even watch OTHER people cross the street now without going into an anxiety attack.

9. THREE times while riding a bicycle.
I have FOUR of those little red LED strobe flashers on the bike now. And one strapped to my left ankle while I ride.

Next son of a bitch who hits me and says he / she didn't see me, is gonna have a WHOLE bunch of 'splainin to do to the judge.

10. I ended up in the hospital...
I was all bloodied and was taken there by cop car with my father.

Thankfully, it was mostly cuts, bruises and a concussion, I remember being totally out of it but wasn't bad enough to have to stay at the hospital, so they sent me home. Once home, my older brother started to make fun of me because I got hit by a car. I told him to shut up and I puked on his pillow. He was a piece of work.

14. no, but i hit a deer a couple years ago, it was bad.
i was in probably the only car for five or six miles in either direction. Hot summer afternoon.
I had my son, then 12, and his pal in the back seat playing gameboy.
this huge buck came dashing up from a deep ditch covered with tall grass. I never saw it until it plowed into the right front of my car.
the front of the car tagged the deer in its front quarters, spinning the rest of it around so its body hit the right side of my car at huge velocity.
the right front passenger's side window exploded into the car with incredible force. In the rear view mirror i could see the deer, airborne, spinning through the air and into the ditch. I didn't have to check. It was surely dead.

Only thing is, my son had his friend with him so they sat together in the back seat. If his friend hadn't been with us, he probably would have sat with me in front and gotten drilled with bullets of shattered glass. we got a few minor cuts as it was. coulda been worse.

17. A small pickup.
I was walking to my apt from campus in downtown Omaha. I crossed the street in a crosswalk (with a "walk" sign on) and the truck made a turn right into me. Since she started from a stop, she wasn't going fast, but she was picking up speed and while I tried to get out of the way. I remember thinking that I had a better chance if I tried to get up. I ended up going over the side of the hood and being thrown to the street. Luckily she didn't run over me and I ended up walking away with the shakes and a bloody knee.

I'm pretty careful when crossing streets now, especially in crosswalks.

18. I have
Some dumb bitch looked straight at me at an open intersection on a clear day, ran into me, backed up, hit me again with people on the sidewalk yelling at her to stop, then swore to the cop she didn't see me. Even though half a dozen bystanders I'd never seen before in my life backed up my side of the story and there was no earthly way the woman could have not seen me, the cop wrote me a ticket. Asshole.

20. I hit a couple.
I was sixteen and coming home from getting my driver's license, would you believe? My mom was in the car with me. We were in VERY slowly crawling downtown traffic, in the middle of the block, and all of a sudden this man and woman were in front of me. I slammed on the brakes, but "tapped" them anyway. Damn near crapped in my pants.

My insurance company settled with them for a couple of hundred bucks and HIGHLY suspected they were con artists. I still believe it too.

21. My son...
Edited on Mon Mar-14-05 07:16 PM by WarNoMore
on St. Patrick's day. He and 3-4 other boys were waiting for the lights to change. We had had a freaky snowstorm. He slid down the piled snow into the road. A poor old lady ran over his leg--He had to breaks. I aged very quickly that day lol.

He was in a hip cast for the summer and my daughter was in a cast on her ankle.

on edit, he had TWO breaks.
