in case anyone isn't checking out the rest of DU.

A judge just ruled California cannot ban gay marriage:

http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&e=1&u=/ap/20050314/ap_on_re_us/gay_marriage

YAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAY!!!!!!

But. The very next reaction I had, after excitement, was thinking about stupid FREAKING (there, I didn't say fucking) rightwingers and their stupid FREAKING homophobia and what they'll do next.

Freakers.

1. Yay! Thanks for posting.
That's great news!! I've been away from any news today, so it's the first I heard of it.

I'll try not to think about what tricks the RWers will pull for now. I'm sure it will be something.

2. Well, I just read the rest of the article. The next step
is the California Supreme Court. BUT California lawmakers are putting a measure on the ballot this November to ban gay marriage and if THAT passes, it'll be out of the hands of the courts, because the California constitution will be amended that way.

WHICH SUCKS.

It better not pass (the measure in November).

8. I don't know how much input Schwartznegger would have...
but has said that he's not opposed to same-sex marriage.

3. Right-wingers are chicken-raping, baby-molesting, pond-scum-lapping...
...consumers of snake diarrhea.

But that goes without saying!

9. I gotta remember that--"consumers of snake diarrhea."
Definitely a keeper, to be used in only the most extreme circumstances.

I'm decidedly unimaginative when it comes to insults, so I copy freely from DU!

6. California isn't wall-to-wall blue
We drove all the way up the state one day, and the frontiersy logging communities near the Oregon border are pretty conservative. I remember seeing bumper stickers saying things like "We're out of toilet paper: please WIPE YOUR ASS ON A SPOTTED OWL!" and similar liberal-baiting slogans.

And then there's Orange County, where Kevin Drum faces off hordes of trustafarians every day, and Palm Springs and the desert cities, which consist of golf courses, gated communities, and tumbleweeds.

But I think the rednecks will be outnumbered on this issue. I hope.

10. Watch the marriages dissolve before our very eyes,
only to be restored to integrity again when the Arnie signs the ban. :eyes:

This is wonderful news--a toast to good lovin' wherever it can be found!

:loveya: :toast:
