Vandals cut off the tails of Wisconsin Family's horses.
Four town of Eau Pleine horses would have quite the tale to tell - if they could talk - about vandals taking their tails.

In a bizarre case of vandalism, the tails of the prize-winning show horses owned by the Tackett family were cut off and stolen on Feb. 18.

"I really don't understand why anyone would want to do that," Holly Tackett said. "It really hurt my girls, and that's what made me angry."
The crime deprived Tackett's daughters, Sierria, 8, and Laina, 16, of the four horses they show at community fairs during summer for the 4-H club

(snip)

Should the perpetrators be found, Boettcher said they could face charges of criminal damage to property and trespassing. The criminals would face a citation of more than $200 or they could be charged with a misdemeanor and go to court.

1. What is it with Wisconsin lately?
All these bizarre stories coming out of Wisconsin, the guy who wants to shoot cats and a church service shot up and what not?

12. It's another Wisconsin Death Trip-we get them every now and then
like Ed Gein or Jeffery Dahmer and Senator McCarthy.
Not for the squeamish.

5. If the bone wasn't cut and merely the hair, then abuse would NOT
Edited on Tue Mar-15-05 02:13 PM by radwriter0555
be part of the issue.

It doesn't sound like the bone was cut; They'd have needed bolt cutters for that.

Cutting the hair off a horse's tail isn't life threatening.

9. Reminds me of those Texas cheerleader moms
that were all over the news back in the 90s. I'd say the police should take a long hard look at whoever came in second in the last competition...

11. That's really cruel...now those horses won't be able to swat flies.
Although the writer of that article really needs to clarify. Did the "vandals" cut off their tails, or just the hair of their tails? BIG difference there. Apparently it was the latter, which is bad enough, since the horses now won't be able to defend themselves against horseflies, mosquitos, and other pests that torture horses during the summer months.
