Today, I found out I'm eligible to take early retirement!
I've been thinking of retiring in a few years, when I'm closer to Medicare age. (I'm 61) But recent events at work have pushed/pulled me towards the door, and today I was told I have enough hours to pull it off! I'm so jazzed that I can hardly see straight...I wanted to wait to post my very first message when I had something meaningful to say. Well, now I have it...I can hardly contain my joy!

:bounce:

2. V-E-R-Y C-O-O-L!!!
You will never regret it. My dad retired at 55 with a buyout deal, and took a cut in his pension to do it. He says it is the best thing he ever did. You cannot get that free time back! ENJOY IT!

I know I won't regret it! I have sooo many plans for the REST OF MY FR****N LIFE! I will also have a cut in my pay, but I no longer care...Only 6 more weeks, and I already feel so free...WOOHOO!

6. Well,,,,hmmm...
I do plan to write and give notice, of course. Not 6 weeks notice, though! My husband suggested that I not give the "gory" details, but explain the push/pull aspects politely. Before I write my letter, I have to cool off somewhat, 'cause right now I'm feeling just a little bit crazy! But I will make sure they fully understand why I'm going just now...They will get that message!

9. And after you are "gone" maybe they'll "hire you back"
as a highly paid consultant..on YOUR terms :)

This happened to a friend of mine.. She was FED up, but bit her tongue, retired congenially, enjoyed the party they threw, and then a month later when the place was ready to collapse, they called and asked if she wanted to :help out".. Triple what she made before and on HER terms.. She "works" there a few days a week, and takes off whenevr she likes..

10. Thanks for your good thoughts!
However, as an RN in a blood bank, there aren't many consultants! Big changes are coming to the Red Cross, and I've had my fill...So I do believe that this move is PERMANENT! I've known many people in industry who've done what your friend did, and more power to them. I just WANT TO BE FREE!

14. Too true!
But that would mean keeping up my CPR card, and renewing my RN license every 2 years and like that...Too much effort, IMHO...I'm really ready to work on the political scene, travel when and whereever I want, sleep more, go to the gym on a regular basis, POST more!

OMIGOD, I just got your joke! ROFLMAO!!!
