I really can't stand this one. :eyes:

I used to like the eyes until two specific posters started using it
in damn near every single post as though this :eyes: combined with a one line post were an actual rebuttal to an argument.

2. Yes, those eyes can get so irritating when you're debating someone
Why can't people just let the words speak for themselves?

3. those two are at the top of my hate list too
Edited on Tue Mar-15-05 05:43 PM by pres2032
seeing :eyes: turns me immediately off to what the person is saying. It just reeks of arrogance and an "i'm better than you are" attitude.

9. Yes, it says, I'm too good for whatever I'm responding to
It's so beneath me that it makes me want to puke.

10. Do people often puke in response to what you've posted?
Edited on Tue Mar-15-05 06:04 PM by BurtWorm
;)

Actually, I don't use either one usually to insult the person I'm dialoguing with, unless things get heated. By :eyes: I'm usually signalling that I'm being ironic with a statement that is obnoxiously freeperish. The :eyes: usually means, "Don't you hate it when people say that?" So I'm not trying to signal my superiority to the person I use that with. I'm trying to signal comraderie.

The puke thing I usually use similarly. I usually use it to mean, "Doesn't that kind of thing make you gag?" Once in a while, during a hostile debate, I'll use it preemptively, to signal I hate a mode of argument or a particular position. In those cases my puke means: "Don't go there."

PS: I just got a :eyes: from someone trying to belittle a point I made in GD. So I :eyes:'d the fucker back!

12. I like the eye-rolling guy.
Used judiciously, he can help make a point.

I don't use the puking one, but I guess I don't hate any of them. I just looked at the list...have we always had that donut one, and I'm blind?

The last thing I need to see when I read about some Iraqi child who had her arms blown off, or a tsunami body count of 150,000+, is this...

How 'bout some sobriety, folks!
