2. I think Rosie should sit down and be quiet. No two people are the same.
This is the same as people saying that Oprah can't be a size 8 and weight 150. Body mass and muscle are two different things. People come in all sizes at the same weight, or differing weights.

23. I was one of them.
One year ago, I weighed 135. That is a great, ideal weight for many people, but at that weight and with poor muscle tone, my body fat was 32.6%. I wasn't "overweight", but I was "overfat."

Today, I am 25 pounds lighter and have lost 12.2% body fat. I have worked very hard to attain toned, lean muscle mass, something I had never thought about before as making a big difference. It does.

And I absolutely agree that people who weigh the same can come in a variety of sizes. Weight is only one factor (and not the most important) in determining size.

Beyond that, why does Rosie CARE what the exact number of Kirstie's weight is. Does it matter?

25. I wonder why she cares
If you are going to speak badly of someone, it should be because they hurt mankind, ala Bush. Who the heck is Kirsty Ally hurting by lying or not about her weight? Maybe herself? Also, it seems Rosie was talking about a picture that was several months old. Kirsty may have lost weight since then.

52. So true!
I have never heard that expression before, but it does ring true! After I started working full-time, I was not as active as I had been when I was younger. The worse of it came when I moved to Oklahoma and worked where we had an "all-you-care-to-eat" (new marketing) buffet EVERYDAY and it was part of my compensation. So, it was stupid to spend money on food, when I got it "free." Anyway, I ballooned up from 125lbs to 175lbs! It took a few years, but I did notice it, eventually, mostly in my face. So, I went to the gym, started working out, changed my diet, and walked more. After two months...I was the SAME damn weight! I was a mess! The same day I realized I was the same weight, someone said.."gee, you are looking better. Have you been working out?" So, when I went back to the gym, they measured my overall body FAT percentage. It had dropped almost 10 percent! So, I was like..."why the hell am I the same weight?!?"

A fitness instructor came in and saw that I looked a little distressed. He asked what was wrong and I told him. So, he pulled my chart..I had gained a few percentage points in the muscle mass category. I knew that muscle weighed more than fat, so I figured out what had happened. In my fervor to lose weight, I did it WRONG! I wasn't just losing fat, I was building muscle because I was working out with such heavy weights!

We, as a culture, have become obsessed with the NUMBER and not the PERCENTAGES. This is what leads to disordered eating and the like. It is not HOW MUCH you weigh, but what makes up that weight.

10. Hey, everyone else does. Why not beat them before they can beat
on us with this still acceptable bigotry that includes name calling, laughing at us, saying we must be lazy to be that fat, and that are some of the milder things.

Remember that movie Gwyneth Paltrow was in where she had to wear that bodysuit that made her look like she was over 300 pounds? She was on Oprah and told the story about wearing the fat suit out in public to eat lunch and go shopping. She said that she could not believe the difference in the way people treated her and felt it was their business to come up and talk to her about her obesity. Also, there were those that for some odd reason could not even see her when they let doors slam in her face rather then opening them and letting her go out first (most gentlemen do this).

Paltrow said she could not believe the abuse (verbally) she received from complete strangers. She said when she got some food to eat, everyone was watching her and mumbling something. She went up to a buffet and someone said, "Leave some for us," which was rather cruel in itself.

Rosie is right though. If Kirstie Alley weighs 210 pounds, then I'm a size 8.

55. Very true... it really depends on a lot of factors...
People carry weight differently. Some people do have more bone and muscle weight under the fat, and since muscle is more dense, they may not look as large at the same weight. Also, some carry weight evenly above and below the waist. Others might get a big behind or belly. Women with wide hip bones and wider shoulders have a bigger frame for holding weight.

I think Kirstie is probably telling the truth, judging on how I looked at my high weight. (50 lbs ago: ) )

I'm 5'9 and was 220 at one point, and was not as big thru the middle and booty as Alley - who is similar in height/frame to me - is at the moment.

I'm thinkin' 250+.

7. Rosie is just getting too bitter
Bitter is cool, but needs a limit.

It would depend on her body fat content. Someone can weigh far more than what they look like if their body fat content is low, or weigh far less than what they look like if their body fat content is high.

15. I think she has been this way before she got her daytime talk show . . .
where in front of the cameras she was the "Queen of Nice" which the magazines named her, as she has always stated.

From what I understand from others who have worked with her when interviewed (not tabloid trash written by someone else, but people that actually had to work with her (including Boy George who was in the Broadway Show Rosie produced), she screams, yells, cusses, is abusive with her mouth. Boy George quit the play at least 2 times (I think) before it went under. A lot felt it was the atmosphere from Rosie's constant badgering of the actors that finally led to its demise. Bad Karma.

17. I think she has done a lot of good, but the bitter has to go
The bitter should show a bit in the performances. Chris Rock is bitter, but I never get the idea he is not gracious for what he has.

Rosie was a funny stage performer, and she has done a lot to bring attention to the adoption thing. She shouldn't be abusive to people, though.

35. I agree.
You are 100% right. Isn't it odd how no one has EVER caught her on tape being the beotch that so many claim she can be.

She does a lot for childrens' charities and that was the best part of her program. She always brought attention to childrens' issues and needs. Plus, she gave it all up (while coming out of a closet only she saw and how she strongly felt by doing so would end her show anyway)to help those two men in Florida and the child the state was going to take back because they were gay. Those two men had adopted hard to place children with disabilities. Why their sexual orientation is the state's business, I do not know. I'm sure their children that they are raising could care less. So what if there are two moms or two dads. As long as they give these children a home full of love and devotion.

The Republicans are such hypocrits. They are against any kind of program to help the needy in this country. Can you imagine being a child that is raised in a state children's home and not have any family that they are aware of. There are a lot of those kids in the military now. Because once you turn 18, you've got to get out of the state-run homes. There are sites where anyone can adopt a soldier . . .ones without families.

My mother was raised in a state facility until the age of 18. She was the 29th child (her father had married 3 times and was widowed each time), and when my mother was born, her father was 72 and her mother was 30. She had 4 sisters and 1 brother (with my grandfather's third wife) but they were not old enough to help take care of her. When my mother was born, her mother had a stroke during childbirth that paralyzed her whole left side. With her father being so old and still working (this was in the 1930's) to feed the family, he asked the children's home if they would take her in and they did. She knew of some of her family; however, when she was born, she had brothers and sisters who were 50-60 years old. Anyway, my mother said her father would visit her when she was little once in a while. They would let him take her once in a while to see her mother. She said her father died when she was 7 or 8 when he fell off a roof (he was 80+ and was still working as a carpenter. There was no such thing as Social Security Retirement then) and died. The state put her mother in a home where she stayed all her life. During that time, the churches took care of the children's homes. My mother lived better (as far as material things) then most children due to the depression. However, once her father died, she never saw anyone from her family again (I think) until her mother died. It's really sad to think about it all.

28. Too true in GD.
Most GD exclusives seem to forget that there are many issues aside from politics. They also seem to forget that those non-political issues can influence politics to a great degree.

Think about it. MG from the DRAN party blasts AU who is a neutral because AU has black hair. AU is more likely to gravitate to the party it sees as more compassionate because no one from the QUIL party every insulted it's hair.

We need to face it. People are that shallow. They'll hang with those who accept what they perceive to be their worst flaws. It's a 2 way street.
