Freeper quotes on films with sexual content
To: churchillbuff
If Hollywood cared about making money, all the studios would be filming parts of the Bible. Basically "pre-quels" to "The Passion" (Jude Law as Samson! Jude Law as Daniel! Jude Law as Elijah!).
But Hollywood isn't about money. They've got it rigged so they can profit even when the movies flop (the WSJ has had interesting articles on how difficult it is for studios not to make money). Nope. The money is a given. For Hollywood, the real goal is the agenda.

The phrase "serious, adult sexuality" would suggest sexuality between serious adults, not panting teenagers, whores and pornographers.
Or the ultimate perversion in Hollywood's eyes: a man and a woman, married to each other. ;)

Very true. After the Passion came out, I thought we would see a bunch of Biblical epics. But nothing. Not even an animated version of Noah's Ark with talking animals.

"People get itchy about straightforward sexuality," Universal Pictures publicity executive Michael Moses says.

Maybe because a lot of Americans have more respect for another guy named Moses than they do for the perverts in your industry, Michael.

So just what color is the sky in your world, anyway?

5. Yeah, Hollywood wants to make films that fail
in order to push an agenda. As if Hollywood was a giant, monolithic entity.

All the producers care about is the bottom line---making films that make cash.

4. Why not do both?
Make a movie about some of the more sexually explicity biblical stories.

That way both audiences are satisfied.

8. LMAO!
There have been plenty of biblical films, and few of them made big $. Just a couple years ago there was something called "The Gospel of John" which didn't do well. Why?

Because it didn't have the hype/controversy of the Passion. Biblical tales aren't big winners, they're only winners when they're some kinda protest, or well done. To think that the fundies are going to go out 10 times to see a new Biblical movie every month is rediculous.
