People who get offended when they perceive some supernatural being
getting disparaged, should really think about getting a ghost
that is better able to take care of itself and doesn't need help from
mortals to insure it's feelings don't get hurt.

1. That's the rub
That's when the fear kicks in when you learn you're gonna pay for it later.

It's a control thing.

2. No, guys
You know how you feel when fundies tell you that you're evil and going to hell because you're atheists? You know how you feel when they tell you that you're on the wrong path because you don't "know Jesus"?

That's how we feel when you make childish, purposely taunting remarks about our faith.

As Reverend Cheesehead said in the other thread, when you call Christians "mentally ill," you're calling her mentally ill. When you say that Christianity is evil, you're saying that she has devoted her life to evil.

4. I don't say they're all evil.
I say they're SILLY, sometimes superstitious. I can make an objective analysis. I'm agnostic, not atheist. Many in my family are rational christians, though we do have a few fundies in my extended family (these are the ones that are all eyes-aglow-grateful that * was "re-elected")

I let my immediate family know that in my mind it is ludicrous. I think there are good lessons to be learned, but that an intelligent person has to assess it and at the very least acknowledge how absurd it all is.

I cannot conceive that all rational people haven't cast off the chains of religion. I will admire and be respectful of them, I will not pressure them to make declarations, or say they are wasting their time. Nor will I pander to them and admit they may be right, they are no more "Right" in my mind than are those who believed in the Roman deities, or Egyptian Pantheon.

We cannot know what is out there, until it reveals itself. God, Krishna, Zeus, Woden, etc have not gone out of their way to show themselves to be all mighty, nor deserving of my praise. Until one does so, I live my way. If it offends people that I compare christianity to mythology, remember this: The ONLY difference between religion and mythology, is that those who believed in mythology are all dead now. If all the christians are killed, then christianity becomes a mythology, and the world moves on.

6. If fundies told me that
I wouldn't feel a fucking thing, except pity for them, and then I might break out in laughter.

Fundies don't control my emotions.

3. I think you missed the point completely.
(I presume you're parodying the post at http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=105x2922460)

Speaking for myself, if I get offended under similar circumstances and say so, it's not for anyone other than myself. You're not the first one I've seen making a comment like this and I'm not sure why the real reason seems difficult to grasp.

Funny how some people take offense at others taking offense.

8. People who make bullshit posts when they, through their filter
of self-righteous arrogance and juvenile smugness, view another's heartfelt request should really think about growing the fuck up and practicing some compassion, respect, and self restraint.

9. Sometimes a reply just has to many misconceptions to venture a response.
Nice avatar, too bad your language isn't.
