49. I confess: I googled "new york city" female author poet along with

"born 1945" back through "born 1935." However, I didn't find her on the "born 1942" search; her name just showed up on one of the other ones and the three remaining brain cells in my head said, Erica Jong, hmmmmm. Checked a bio and she fit.
