My kitten became a cat today
My kitten just turned a year old, but became a full blown cat today.

A Mourning Dove came in for a landing in the back yard. As it was coming in, the kitten jumped up and batted it from the air, then grabbed it.

My wife was watching. She was able to get the cat away from the bird and after a recovery of a few minutes, the dove was able to fly away.

I would say that qualifies as a defining moment between kittenhood and catdom.

2. one of mine is a chubby, overweight neutered male....
Couple of summers ago, when he was about a year and a half old he jumped about a foot into the air-- that's about his limit-- and came down with a humming bird in his mouth. He looked as shocked as I was. There was no saving the hummer, unfortunately.

5. Dude!
That's quite an initiation into cathood. :woohoo: for the dove getting away, too. :woohoo: (Mine once corralled a hapless starling, same result.)
