Host Craig Ferguson brought in a band on Monday night that doesn't even have a record contract. He just saw them playing in the Viper Lounge, liked what he heard, and thought they deserved a shot on a national stage.
This is way too cool. And I think he wants to do it again.
My brother's in a band, too (Baboon) - they used to be on a record label, but got screwed over. Now they pay for their own studio time, CD recording, etc. And it's good stuff. Some of it makes me insanely jealous of Steve. And they have gotten some brief national recognition in the past - they were even featured on an episode of Walker: Taxas Ranger. But the industry overall looks like a giant crap shoot. Whether or not you're a fan of American Idol, one look at that show seems to prove my point.
I can't even remember the band's name last night, but I hope the exposure helps them out. I wish them well.
