The ice cream truck!

My kids were playing outside and a few minutes ago came running inside hollering that the ice cream truck was coming! Sure enough, they were right! Shortly thereafter the truck came down our street, stopping right in front of our house.

There is nothing quite like the shining excitement and huge smiles on the faces of two preschoolers getting ice cream from the ice cream truck. They were thrilled! It's the simple pleasures, I guess.

They are out in the backyard now in their bare feet, eating ice cream sandwiches and getting gloriously sticky.

The one that goes through my neighborhood plays the theme to "The Sting".

4. You know what?

I already can't remember! I just heard that Lipitor commercial (or whatever it is) that plays "I Only Have Eyes For You", so that's what's stuck in my head.

Oddly enough, while I was listening to the ice cream song, I figured THAT would be what would stick in my head all night.

My favorite ice cream truck was the one that played Music Box Dancer.

And it never goes through the neighborhood anymore. Sadness. :(

7. One day, when I was in first grade,

the school bell went off in the middle of the day.

"It's a fire drill!" I exclaimed.

"Schools over!" Cindy yelled.

Then little Tommy "The Cannibal" announced with a smile, "It's the ice cream man!"

And Mrs Cavanaugh cracked up.
