Just watched "King Arthur"
A horrible waste of time, full of rusty cliches and bad actors

7. If I recall.. that film loses steam from midway to just before the end..
It's been a while, but I do recall enjoying some it. Boorman is a bit bombastic, sort of like Jerry Bruckheimer,

4. I thought it was OK
Not great, or even good, but about average for that type of film.

6. I know, unfortunately after investing all that money in costumes, sets
and backdrops they couldn't find a director and writer with a little talent

5. Hadn't heard of this adaption..
Hmmm.. let see:

Based on a more realistic portrayal of "Arthur" than has ever been presented onscreen. The film will focus on the history and politics of the period during which Arthur ruled -- when the Roman empire collapsed and skirmishes over power broke out in outlying countries -- as opposed to the mystical elements of the tale on which past Arthur films have focused.

Sound accurate? They were supposed to avoid the old Arthur cliches according to the literature. This one slipped under my radar.

8. the problem is the interpretation of the "new" historical data
its worse than trying to assemble a dinosaur from its fossilized gall bladder....

9. Yes, it does what it claims but...
The acting is not its strong point. The gray tones used in every aspect of the film make it prone to being under everyone's radar.

Now, did I enjoy watching it? It was fine.. I just wouldn't compare it to, like, Ran, or something...

10. Gray tone cinematography?
Edited on Sun Apr-17-05 02:09 AM by ReadTomPaine
Sort of a modified sepia technique? Or just too much gray? :)

On edit - it seemed to make a good amount of money, about twice what it cost to make.

11. Look who produced it. Jerry Bruckheimer.
When you see his name on ANY film, stay far, far away.
