Poll question: The Eric Clapton & Jerry Garcia captured by cannibals joke. Your thoughts.
OF COURSE, this joke made the rounds before Captain Trips went on to that great, big jam band in the sky.

:toast:

Eric Clapton and Jerry Garcia were captured by cannibals. As they sat in the giant stew pot over a roaring wood flame, the cannibals offered them each a last wish. Jerry said "I'd like to have my guitar for a moment so that I can play "Truckin'" one more time. The melody will relax me and put me at peace."

The cannibals turned to Clapton and said "And your wish?"

Clapton replied "Eat me first so I never have to hear that fucking song again."

1. Flip it around and have Clapton getting the first wish...
..and have it be to play any one of his horribly overplayed, lame-o songs one last time. Truckin' is nowhere even in the realm of being as overplayed as Wonderful Tonight or Cocaine or Tears in Heaven or any number of Clapton songs.

3. Gotta admit, as a Clapton Fan...
...If I hear "Wonderful Tonight" one more friggin time, I'll want to be eaten too. He's only released 70 or 80 versions of the song, dammit! It shows up on every third album the bastid releases!

6. Agreed. "wonderful tonight" is the second most
DREARY song ever written, surpassed only by that dreadful "Suzanne" by Leonard Cohen.

He $$$$UCK$$$!They could make commercials to show over and over and over and over of with the cannibals beating him to death with his guitar and throwing him into the pot with "Highway to Hell" riff playing over and over in background, now that would be a commercial worth having to see over and over and over again.

8. This could well be
the best poll EVER!

And, wow do I ever hate Wonderful tonight. Also, Unplugged--addition to giving every other semi-washed-up rocker the idea to try and get some artistic "credibility" took an exciting and fun song like Layla and got rid of every part of it that was worth listening to, and showed you just how dull EC could actually be.

Duane Allman ye are well missed.

9. None of the Above
My choice would be, "Hand jive, hand jive, hand jive, do that crazy jive."

but that choice wasn't available.

So I'll settle for "I've had enough....of bad love...."
