Who here WASN'T at the Boston gethering yesterday???
Edited on Sun Apr-24-05 03:58 PM by SmileyBoy
There was a better chance of Sioux City, Iowa getting a bid to host the 2012 Summer Olympics than me being able to make it to Boston yesterday.

Here's my legitimate excuses:

I have a TON of homework this weekend
I had to work at my football team's spring game yesterday
I have NO money for a plane ticket or lodgings
I actually had ANOTHER class on Saturday that I had to skip so that I could work at the spring game
I'm almost 2,000 miles away

Let's hear your legitimate excuses for why you weren't able to be in Boston yesterday. After all, not all of us had the ability to make the party...

6. I was in Alaska
I would have ponied up the cash to go, but I'd already taken my vacation before I knew about it.

But perhaps it will happen again next year maybe?

24. There ought to be one in Chicago
in June or July. That would be tight.

10. I had to work all weekend
It 's a shame though cause I live in CT and it's only like a 3 hour drive to Boston. We're in a busy time at work and I just couldn't get off work.

13. Me. One day I intend to make it to a bigger gathering.
We should have a national DU gathering this summer.

San Francisco would be a good place. Chicago, too, since it's centrally located.

14. My excuses look like yours, except...
I have a TON of homework to GRADE...
And I guess I'm only about 600 miles from Boston, but still...

15. I wasn't.
I had a big paper to write, amongst other things.
I was sleep deprived. Sleep is good.
I had previous engagements.
I was half a continent away.
I'm in high school.

Yeah.

We'll see next year, though. I'm going to be stuck in a small hick town for college, but I'll be paying next to nothing to go there, so I'll have some extra money to kick around. If we're able to get one going in Chicago, I'm definitely game. :)

17. I have similar excuses.
Two papers due this week.
No money for anything.
800 miles away.

We should DEFINITELY get something going for Chicago. Show those Boston freaks how it's done!

20. Me
I work Saturdays. I get vacation days next month (after being here a year). I can afford to take time off until then.

I can't afford a plane ticket and hotel.

And I definitely cannot afford the gas to drive to Boston from Texas.

25. The $250 for airline ticket, $200+ for hotel, $100+ for meals and $100+
for drinking would have been approximately $650 more than I have right now! And I'm going to Vegas in two weeks :)
