1. Jackie--he seems kind, has comedic talent, and rocks.
Edited on Mon Apr-25-05 03:30 PM by tjdee
He can be very silly, but he has tremendous talent I think. He also has a great smile and seems like a warm person.

Jet Li...eh, just another martial arts guy, kinda cute...I prefer Jackie.
Though, I haven't seen as much of Jet Li.

2. Jackie could kick Jet's wired butt and not break a sweat
Jackie is real. Jet could be replaced by a computer animated figure.

18. Complete nonsense
Jackie Chan is an actor who does martial arts. He grew up in the Peking Opera and trained as a clown. Jet Li is the former World Wu Shu Champion.

I'm not saying that I prefer Jet Li, because I don't, but to say that Jackie Chan is a better martial artist is simply ignorant.

12. I am a Bruce Lee fan, but really...
Jackie Chan rules. Not much beats Legend of the Drunken Master for me.

5. They hit Jackie with a helicopter and he kept on going
Really! I am not talking about an FXs shot. They hit him with a helicopter on accident and the little bugger came back to the set and kept on going.

They hit the man with a helicopter.

8. If I wanted wire stunts, I'd go with Jet Li.
But if I want the real deal, and I do, it's gotta be Jackie Chan.

10. Only Jackie could make a martial arts flick with no real villains
and still be entertaining. Gorgeous has no serios villains in it. The big bad guy is Jackie's best friend. At the start of the movie he has his hench men throw Jackie into the ocean. But he makes sure they throw a life preserver in with him cuz he doesn't want Jackie to get hurt.

Yes its sickly sweet and charming. But it works. And he still manages to get some amazing fight sequences in at the same time.

11. Jackie was Bruce Lee's
stunt double. If you watch enter the dragon, BL breaks JC's neck in one scene as well. He does outrageous stunts, and overall is more. . . REAL.

13. Avoid Jackies American made movies
Anything where too many insurance agents are involved. US studios simply do not know what to do with Jackie. Its only when he is allowed free reign to be insane that he shines.

Ok so this isn't the helicopter they hit him with. This one is from First Strike. But I can't find a shot of the one they did hit him with.

but there is a warmer spot in my heart for Jackie Chan.

I found "Hero" to be chilling.

20. I thought Hero was outstanding--a very artsy and beautifully done movie
I imagine most here in America have been exposed to a lot more Jackie than Jet. I like them both, and they have different styles, but Jet is a master as is Jackie, at the Martial Arts. I have seen many earlier movies of Jet (in Hong Kong comedy/martial arts ) that were quite entertaining and show off his skills, as Jackie always does in his comedies. Neither are outstanding actors, but we don't watch them for those qualities, I would venture to say.

21. It's Not a Reflection on Jet Li Himself
but Hero exalted the authoritarianism and devalued human life and individuality. Two of my least favorite aspects of Chinese tradition. I actually enjoyed the movie too, but that has stayed with me.
