Poll question: Best Major League Manager
I'm a Red Sox fan and left Terry Francona off.
Not one of the best IMHO.

1. I'm a Braves fan.
Gotta go with Bobby. Best Pitching coach? Rockin' Leo Mazonni, of course!

2. Jack McKeon, he has less to work with than Cox or Torre

3. I guess you're going with current managers

If not then I think Sparky Anderson should be on the list.

5. Tossup between Cox and Torre
What Cox has done is amazing -- last year was his best work yet.

But Torre does something that no other manager can do -- handle both George Steinbrenner and the NY media. People who don't follow the Yankess or who live in NYC have no comprehension of how much the media covers, criticizes, follows, etc. the Yanks. Yes, he has $200 million in talent, but what he does in the face of all of those egos is amazing.

6. Both of them have had more to work with than any other managers.
Guys like McKeon and Gardenshire have made the most with very little.

11. Very little??
Colorado has very little. KC has very little. Florida and Minnesota have small payrolls, but a lot of talent. Now that A.J. Burnett is rounding into form, Jack McKeon has a starting rotation that most other teams would kil for.

You have good points -- and I don't want to get into a long back and forth, but Torre is expected to win every single night -- preseason, regular season, postseason, intersquad (just kidding), you name it.

12. Yes I did
He does so much with so little, because the Twins' BILLIONNAIRE owner is so tight, a nickel squeals with delight when it leaves his pocket.

15. Its nice to see "Boch" get at least one vote.
He's had some bad teams to deal with.
And he's the only Major League manager born in France.

16. Jack McKeon
If 2003 did not prove he's the best manager, then just wait until October of this year.
