Poll question: How many people have you put on IGNORE?
Edited on Wed Apr-27-05 10:00 AM by FormerRushFan
I just decided to <ignore> my first poster today, and I started to wonder if I'm all alone doing this or how common it really is...

3. It Varies
Right now, it's at three. I move people on and off my "Ignore" list - many times, people actually earn little tombstones while I'm ignoring them.

4. Zero. But its not because I won't ignore some people
Its just I don't need a button to do it. I have this amazing ability to not read things if I choose not to.

6. I have never put anyone on ignore
Not saying that I never will, but so far I have found any need to. I am quite aware that some people might have different ideas than I do.

7. How about a choice of...
'No one yet, but I know it's coming'?

8. how about a choice for just "zero" (without the "Never")?
i wouldn't want to say that i would NEVER put anyone on ignore ...

i just never have ...

the most annoying people on DU are those who attack the poster personally rather than responding to the issues being raised ... in most cases, i either just don't respond to these people, challenge them to stop the personal attacks and address the issues, or hit "alert" ...

one of those approaches always seems to solve the problem ...

11. I would answer this, but I currently have you on ignore

Just kidding (obviously). I have 0 on ignore and only had one or two on ignore during the primaries (not for long, though).

18. None.
What's the point? You'd just end up tortured by curiosity as to what they said, and I feel there's no one here whose opinions are so worthless that I should ignore them.

19. Certain thread bring out the folks who need to be culled from
my awareness.

I was amazed at the number of people who just refused to believe that the GOP could steal another election and they tended to be very rude to anyone at DU who were showing exactly how damned easy it was to steal yet another election. So I just started putting the non-believers in facts on ignore.

Many of these nay sayers were trolls who were later tombstoned.

My next group of tombstoned candidates -- people who think Reid is doing a "wonderful" job.

20. I agree. I didn't have an ignore list until a few days ago.

Then I got tired of those who are consistently rude, post just to bait others, post when they don't know the facts, are too stubborn and ignorant to reason with, or have views so diametrically opposed to my own that I have to wonder which side they're on. So now I have 18 people on my ignore list and it is wonderful. I don't have to waste my time responding to them--I don't even have to see their posts. I am a person who is easily offended, and some people seem to be extremely offensive. I see no reason to desensitize myself, develop a thicker skin, or otherwise accommodate them, as they suggest. Freedom of speech doesn't mean I have to listen to everything everyone says, just as I don't have to watch FAUX News, listen to wing-nut talk shows, or read freeper boards. When I go to the library, I don't just take the first few books I see--I look at the books and select those I wish to read. I may read a lot, but I'm picky about it--I like books that impart useful information or are entertaining. I'm too old to bother with books that won't enrich or delight my mind. Same for people.
