An anonymous bidder snatched it up for that. It was in the UK, and the bidding was actually in Euros, but the Euro amount converts to US $285,000. So, I guess someone bid, say, 45 euros for it.

Fess up! Who has it now? And who's wearing it right now?

Excuse me, I love The Wizard of Oz as much as anyone, but spending $285,000 for a dress from a movie is patently absurd.

Just my .02

3. I have worn THE ruby slippers. Well, one pair of them, anyway.
They were tight, a size 6, but it was sooo strange to be literally standing in the shoes of Judy and Dorothy.

4. Are you male or female?
I once had a male friend who loved to wear red pumps.

18. There's got to be more to this story.
How on earth did this come about???

For what it's worth, the Ruby Slippers in the Smithsonian is the most requested display.

5. That was a GREAT slam on the U.S. Dollar!
We've been doing it to Canada for years...I think it's great when somebody calls us on the current state of our currency (I'm investing in Monopoly money as we speak).

7. Naw..If you've got Euros, you're golden.
If I could find a place that sold Chinese Yuan in lots of less than $10,000 US, I'd be buying those, too.
