This show was utterly heartbreaking
http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/

About the concentration camps. I have seen footage before, but this footage was not just a clip. It was very thorough for the major camps. I think it should be required viewing. I pray nothing close to this ever happens again.

2. No, there aren't.
When you watch most news programs, they build everything up to be so terrible, everything is the fall of mankind. But when I see what these people went through, and survived, I have great faith in humanity to overcome tragedy. Hotel Rwanda was another great example of that.

I thought leaving out music in the footage was very stark, and showed the dark reality better than adding music.

Everyone needs to watch this. Including *.

5. I can't help recalling the Nazi ties * has in his family

I don't think it's coincidence that he has no empathy for his fellow man. He's a simpering, shallow, pathetic shell of a person and sometimes, in my better moments, I feel sorry for him.

3. Powerful show
The shocking cruelty was enabled by a combination of denial and complicity by the German citizenry.

I'm sure at that time there were large numbers of German citizens that considered themselves moral and religious people, but by choosing to ignore the inhumane activities occurring within their communities, they gave a tacit endorsement that allowed such treatment to continue.

The lessons of the German people serve as lessons to everyone about blind obedience to political leadership. Pay attention, Freepers and religious zealots.

4. Extremism in any form is dangerous
Seems people get this militant desire to prove that they are right, and everybody else wrong. When that happens, look out.

All that is needed for evil to prevail is for good men to do nothing.

6. I saw that on repeat last night.
I literally had shivers down my spine for the whole hour. It was chilling and sickening.

8. Yes it was
I admit, though, that throughout I was seeing the living survivors, and how sallow they looked, but wondering what they must have felt to be through it, to have survived. I wonder if they had a sense of hope, or if not, just an increased belief in their own resiliency to have survived such horror.

7. I know. It was sickening.
It was especially powerful when they would pan across the faces of the prisoners. Wow.
