I'm watching "Down from the Mountain" again.
Are Ralph Stanley and John Hartford still alive? I think not.

2. Is alive?
John Hartford is dead. Too bad. Great violinist (classical and blue grass) and a licensed riverboat captain. Captain Hartford, my deep honors to you sir. Loved your talent.

3. Yep, Ralph's alive..
I saw him in Phoenix just after "O Brother" came out in a dive bar more for indie-rock then anything else, and he was incredible..

4. Dr. Ralph comes to Bill's Pickin' Parlor in W. Cola. every year around
Christmas. I saw him there the year before O Brother came out. I think maybe he had an idea that it might be life-altering. Not on the schedule as of yet this year, but hey, that's 7 months from now.

5. Hey! I was also at that show.
Stanley had an absolutely chilling (and I mean that in a good way) stage presence. A talented and gracious man.

6. Fuckity fuck fuck! Really? Too cool
I brought a friend who hadn't listened to too much hillbilly music and who had never heard of Dr. Ralph. I think it was about two weeks before he quit thanking me for bringing him.

7. I saw Ralph play a couple of months ago..
on his O'Brother tour. He played "O' Death" at the very end of the show. Very cool to see a legend play.

John has died, though :(

8. Thats what I thought.
What a great guy. I guess Brother Ralph's great "O Death" was applicable to John Hartford. What irony and sadness.
