Did you ever eat your pets?
My mom says no, but I think she's lying.

I think we ate our pet bunny. Jack, Jack Rabbit.

She says he, "Went to live at the farm."

2. The farm
was a nice dinner plate with lightly sauteed greenbeans and mashed potatoes. And a nice Chianti--fff-ffff-fff-fff-ffff.

I'm still dental-flossing bits of him out.

6. Yeah......
My grandmother got some chickens and I made a pet of one particular hen. My grandmother wrung her neck, gutted her, cooked her up and served her for dinner.

I ate, but I cried for days.....

Khash.

10. Suddenly, I'm grateful that I did NOT grow up on a farm, or have
edible pets! My daughters had rabbits, and we did eat rabbit now and then, BUT those I had bought at the store! We didn't make a habit of eating rabbit...lololol

:hi:

15. No
I have two pets that have died.
1. Sam, was very sick for a week. Spent many days in kitty ICU and then we brought him home. I spent many of his last hours holding him. He passed away Labor Day 1998, while I was at work. He buried him in our back year behind our detached garage and planted flower on top of his grave. I would go there and cry.

2. Custard, I got her when I was 3. I was convinced that she was immortal because she was 18 years old. When she was 10 I started to prepare myself for the inevitable. She went off when she finally passed. We never found her. We have a kitty door to go inside and outside, and my parents and I checked out the regular Custard napping spots, including cleaning out the entire garage. We never found her, and even after asking the neighbors, we never knew where she went in her final days. I know that she wasn't run over or anything, because she never crossed the street. She'd laid in specific spots in the house, near our next door neighbors wood pile and by certain bushes. I know she knew that it was her time, and went off as nature calls them to do.

So, I have 2 pets that have died and I know that I haven't eaten them.

18. Yep.
I had a turtle once when I was in college (don't ask-I am weird). It disappeared one day. That same day my room mate offered me some soup that she had made from scratch in the dorms kitchen (we had a small stove so that we could cook if we wanted to). I ate it. Guess what it was?

There's a saying - "meaner than cat's meat." I think there's a reason, and I'm not willing to test it.

22. On a farm, kids will often treat a turkey, pig or cow like a pet
even though most people consider them to be edible. Other cultures eat dogs and horses. I suppose it is even possible to use a pet rock to make stone soup.

23. Jack Rabbit is a member of DU, a former mod.
And a nice person. And I promise you that I have never eaten a pet. I go to great lengths, even cooking for them, on my vet's instructions, just trying to get my pets to eat, since they've been sick.
