I heard a rumor. It's a funny rumor, that's why I started this thread here in The Lounge.

Sign in and sound off, please. I need to laugh.

Does anyone doubt that I'm anyone but bobthedrummer?

They've got inexpensive amusement rides, lots of picnic tables-it's easy to find. PM me if you want.

I've never been to Wisconsin but I like the cheese

I can account for 2 of the Freebird names ~ I joined as Freebird12004 and then changed to freebird1 before I introduced myself in my own name. :toast:

21. You're only as old as you choose to feel.
I was at the Boston meet-up and shared my room with someone young enough to be my granddaughter {which BTW I don't have} it was fun. I wasn't the oldest person there. Go to a meet-up. I'm sure they are all different as DUers are but each one will be interesting.

36. I Actually Did Know That!
But, you're not in ancient times, so we must denigrate all drummers! Sorry, i don't make the rules, i just enforce the rules!

Now, your wife the bass player, is totally cool with me. (That's my third instrument, and i like playing bass with my boys!)

The musicology thing is also very cool, but still, YOU ARE A DRUMMER, and we just CAN'T respect the drummers! It's a rule!

45. Drum machines can't reproduce a real pressure wave, nor duplicate
attack/decay characterisitics of the cymbals. Can't be done on a machine.

OTOH, I don't want to be programmed at 150 bpm either.

49. I'd Never Play Live With A Machine
Unless we were specifically doing something that REQUIRED a machine like feel. (We used to do Phil Collins' "In the Air Tonight" and we opened the first 2/3rds of the song completely automated. Everything. Then, at the point in the song prior to the final chorus and into the solos, we would kick everyone in, and when the drums were real, you're right. Pressure wave, city.)

I know machines ain't nothing like the real thing! But, for practicing my shredding, i gotta have drums and bass.

38. A Drummer Cannot Insult Me
Another rule in this little book i've got right here. Like i told Bob, i don't make the rules, i only enforce the rules.

Nothing a drummer says matters, so you cannot dish it back. I laugh at your attempts to get back at me! (OK it's just a little chuckle, not a whole laugh, but i did chuckle derisively.)

Those are my initials. I had this address given to me when i was teaching grad courses at UIC. Free AOL for all faculty. When i left there, i just kept the same email address, but at a different ISP. (Didn't want to pay for AOL.) When i joined up at DU, i just used it as my screenname too.
