21. Cool Hand Luke
Remember when the tragic hero was working on the tar soaked southern highway clearing brush on a godawful hot summer day when the young "bad" woman was washing her car. Cool Hand Luke was certainly good, and that woman was certainly "bad."

35. You thought Clive Owens' character was "good"?
Natalie Portman's character is the only one who never cheats on anynone throughout that entire film.

I don't think any of those characters were supposed to be "good", but she's far and away the most likable character in that film for solely that reason.

28. Not quite...
She was not a bad person in 'All About Eve', or 'Dark Victory' (spoiled a bit, but not bad). I can remember plots, (but not all the titles... gettin' old, I guess) of at least 4 or five of her movies where she wasn't playing an evil person.

not evil or unredeemable, and she did come around in the end.

34. True, but I'm thinking more of the ones where she
Edited on Thu May-05-05 03:23 PM by NuckinFutz
was a decent person from the outset. In 'Hush, Hush, Sweet Charlotte', she was decent pretty much the whole way through, but perceived by her community to be bad/crazy.

There was also the one where she played a governess who fell in love with the father of her charges. She made a mistake, but was not in the least an unredeemable person.

29. The Best Years of Our Lives (1946)
Specifically, the relationship between Dana Andrews and Virginia Mayo. Usually, Virginia played good women -- but she was a real harridan in this movie (which is one of my very favorites). I'm always so happy for him when Dana finally wises up and gets together with sweet little Teresa Wright.
