Texas House To HS Cheerleaders: Don't Shake It
AUSTIN, Texas (Reuters) -- Texas lawmakers sent a message to the state's high school cheerleaders Wednesday: no more booty-shaking at the game.

The state's House of Representatives voted 85-55 to approve a bill that would forbid sexy cheers and give the Texas Education Agency authority to punish schools that allow "overtly sexually suggestive" routines at football games and other events.

The proposal must go to the Texas Senate for consideration.

"People are calling and telling me how disgusting it is to see sexually suggestive routines on the part of marching units or cheerleaders," said State Rep. Al Edwards, a Houston Democrat who sponsored the bill.

1. I don't care much for cheerleaders
I think girls should play their own sports. But the very idea that TEXAS POLITICIANS would presume to judge the morality of ANYONE is, quite simply, sickening to the extreme

7. I thought cheerleading was a sport
because of the acrobatics and dance moves required? But then again, I'm from Queens. When I was told in high school that there were places in this country that offered cheerleading scholarships, I was shocked, shocked!

2. My mom works for TEA....
and I can assure you, the Texas Education Agency has far more important things to do than punish cheerleaders. Then again, when your budget gets slashed by 40% and the workload doesn't decrease, well I would be very surprised if TEA actually spent any time on this crap.

6. Shake it, but DON'T break it.
Awwww...you cracked it.
That's what passed for humor-in-high-school circa 1957.
