to see if, maybe, he's just one of those people who is really into having someone in authority over him, and will always appreciate, for the most part, any authority figure?
You'd have to do more background, like how he feels about other presidents, his boss, his teachers, his minister/rabbi/guru/spiritual dude/dianetics money launderer/whatever, to get an accurate picture, but it could be interesting.
There are those people who are just plain predisposed, whether organic in the brain or psychological or whatever, to adore and think the authority over them is just ducky and fine, overall, even they disagree on the occasional point.
But even then, it's pretty weird to like Clinton and Shrub both, since they're so opposite in their methodology, their idealogy, and their past proven criminal record and penchant for self-advancement at the expense of any and all people who aren't in their family and/or can't contribute to their business, their portfolios, or their political campaigns to enact a faux-Christian hegemony of hate and greed and intolerance as a new world order.
on edit: added some ending clarification to the Shrub side of things, just to make sure we're all clear about who we're talking about. :-)
