Two bigot encounters in one night.

Been working graveyards in a convenience store while looking for a decent job (which I finally found).

Last night I got the thrill of encountering two bigots.

First one told a racist joke.

Later I got to hear two women talking about our esteemed mayor West of Spokane who has been outed. One of the women said, "I wouldn't have voted for him if I knew he a gay".

How come this shit never happens when my tongue is not restrained by being on the wrong side of the counter?

I don't think I'll ever forget what happened to me one night when I was dealing blackjack, about 5 or 6 years ago. There were two guys on my table and they were talking about various things and all of a sudden the topic switched to OJ Simpson and Nicole. One of them said to the other something like: "Well it's a good thing she's dead anyway, for being dumb enough to f**k a nig***." I almost lost it on the spot, and thought seriously about demanding to be moved to a different table, but instead I had to stand there and act as if nothing happened, or jeopardize my job.

5. The nurse at the hospital this morning

while giving my grandmother her medication was talking with another nurse about buying a farm. On the subject of the price, she noted that the other nurse could probably "jew them down a little".

I love my grandma, so I bit my tongue.
