It's dinnertime DU!
Edited on Sat May-14-05 10:22 PM by EstimatedProphet
Someone earlier was talking about pierogies, so I decided to make pierogies and sausage for dinner.

Start with 1/2 stick of butter melted in a large frying pan. Add about 1/2 tsp of paprika, and 1 tsp garlic. When is starts to sizzle, add the pierogies:

Cook until golden brown, like these are starting to be. Also, add pepper and salt to taste-I use sea salt and cracked pepper.

In the meantime, chop 1 lb. of sausage. This is Chef Adell Garlic Chicken and Pepper Sausage-very tasty. Again, pepper and salt to taste:

When the pierogies are browned, they are ready. Serve with sour cream, caviar, and a little sugar.

I made a convert out of the Prophetess tonight with these!

So what's everyone having?

6. This was more Russian than Polish, with the sour cream and caviar
and actually, I'm Dutch/Scotch. The Prophetess is Italian/Polish/German though, and she loved these.
As a rule I like Russian food. It's very flavorful.

2. Were they home made pierogies?
All we can get here is Mrs. T's, which aren't bad mind you, but I've had them handmade before and they were wonderful. That looks like a scrumptious meal. I'd bet some Beck's would wash that down nicely.

Handmade pierogies are good, but awfully hard to find.

4. Damn, I wish I could cook
The only thing I've made on my stove is pizza rolls. The only time I have a home cooked meal is when I go over to my folk's house. I really need to take some cooking lessons.

8. The best secret to cooking that I ever learned:
Experiment, in small doses. After a while you pick up tastes which you like, and learn how to duplicate them. I'm entirely self-taught. I never even got recipes from the family.

13. I will give it a go
I do know how to cook eggs any style, grilled cheese sandwhiches and pasta. Maybe I'll try to make some spaghetti for the first time tomorrow.

15. Unfortunately the Prophetess hates my spaghetti
I really undercook it, because I used to work in a restaurant, and they would cook spaghetti at the beginning of the week and keep it in cold water for the week. By the end of the week it was the grossest nasty stuff you could imagine. Still can't deal with spaghetti that is overcooked, to the point that I like it to crunch a bit.

17. It's true - I don't like very undercooked spaghetti
but everything else he makes is terrific! Can't complain about having an in-house chef, now can I? ;)

16. Looks delish...
I have had a very busy day with the kids and working around the house. So after getting them fed, I only felt like having some tuna and raw carrots.
