I need a new printer. Any suggestions?

1. Stop messing around with inkjet printers

If you go inkjets or you go laser, check out the cost of the supplies.

Lexmark inkjet printer cartridges can cost almost as much as the printers themsleves. Hp isn't much better.

Canon is reasonable for the ink and is what I use at work and home.

Epsons are good but their inkjets are prone to needing a good cleaning after a few years.

Brother seems to have really cheap ink but their printers don't seem to last very long.

3. I'm looking for

something that will print mostly written material, but later I will probably want to print photos too.

I don't do any graphic work.

You're right about those bloody, expensive cartridges.

6. I am real happy

With my Canon i560. It has 4 ink tanks 1 black and 3 color. I have been out of color for about a month now but able to print black fine. Cartridges are about $14.00 each or so.

Seems to print decent enough photos the few times I have done it. I got it for about $90 I think.

4. My suggestion

get one with individual color cartridges (black,yelow,magenta,cyan) as opposed to the ones with just a color and a black cartridge. That way you can swap them out as needed at less expense, instead of having to replace an entire color cartridge just because the yellow runs out. Epson makes some of these, nd I think Canon does too.

5. Check out the Epson RX 620

Awesome quality. 6 color and the cartridges are large, individual and not all that expensive for the size.

It's an all in one scanner, copier, printer. Prints photos directly from the flash card--or which ever kind of card a digital camera might have.

I'm awaiting some gift cards and then I'm on my way to Best Buy to get one.
