(found at the left-hand side of the main page, down about four forums) and click on, there are some wonderful and in-depth descriptions of today's showdown, with a good deal of history. You will enjoy reading them. Briefly, he is an elected official from England who some in the Senate are trying to say helped Saddam in Iraq during the 1990s. He traveled to the USA to confront his accusers. I'm not totally objective on this, so I'd prefer that you read others' opinions. But the televised hearing was explosive. No matter if you like him or not, I think that seeing the hearings created a heck of an impression.

He's an MP testifying in the "oil for food" hearings. It's pretty good, if you poke around GD a page or two back you'll find the link to the transcript and to the video. There's one for dial-up users, too, and one that's audio-only. Look for a post by dzika.
