...anything. :)

I'll try to be as coherent as possible in my responses.

It's funny when bad news kind of turns into good news along with bad news all in one. I feel good- there's been a lot of crap (carp HA! What was it COlbert used? Stroud? Something like that) going on in my life particularly in the last couple of weeks. I got a bit of relief today along with an AWFUL lot of drama.

And I wanna talk. So letter rip. Let's see whatcha can get.

:bounce:

I choose to spend my happiness with YOU. You're all BEAUTIFUL.

6. Good question.
Edited on Fri May-20-05 01:31 AM by BullGooseLoony
LOL yeah that's open-ended.

So, of course I've been drinking some rum. Feeling good.

Anyway. Couple of things. Turned in my final project on Tuesday for Family Law in my paralegal cert. program. The instructor, the director of the program, a tall, charismatic lawyer guy with a tendency to abuse his students gave me a 60 out of 100 on the project. It brought down my final grade for the class to 79.5%, when I had a VERY strong "B" before hand. Keep in mind I've had nothing but A's in this program before this. He of course knew this, too.

So, after I wrote to him asking what happened with my memo he sent this general memo to the whole class in which he was REALLY insulting to a number of people. Said that a few people shouldn't have even turned in a project (obviously referring to me). After taking garbage from this guy out of deference for the entire semester I finally decided to hit back. I'm one of two males in the entire class and also one of the most intelligent there, easily. And I had put so much time into this memo (applying things I had learned from previous memos, IN HIS CLASS and others), that I knew for certain that I didn't deserve a D-. So I wrote him back. I called him on his shit. He ended up writing back with two total BS excuses about the grade and actually capitulating to ME about the quality of the memo (apparently I didn't meet with him properly even though I tried once and he DIDN'T SHOW UP and emailed him another time and he just refused to help), in no CERTAIN terms (in other words avoiding the fact), and the fact that it was of good quality.

This guy had just been beating me for so long and I finally got fed up and hit him back HARD. I should post the thing to see how beautiful and NOT angry it was, but I won't. He didn't change the grade. He's destroyed my 4.0 by giving me a C, deliberately, but I got my pride back. He knew it was a good memo, and couldn't say otherwise. That was all that mattered to me.

There was something else, though, too, about my car breaking down. We went to the dealership today. (To be continued....)

7. Bacardi and Coke. Was talking philosophy and life with my mother
for about an hour and a half. Ran out of smokes and booze, eventually had to get off the phone and walk down to the store. Stepped in a creek, got my right foot all wet. LOL Anyway, I'm happy again. Got my consumables.

9. Man, the car dealership.
We went to buy a Hyuandai (sp?) Accent 3-door today. We were going cheapo. But THESE motherfuckers... OH MAN.

Yeah. So they quoted us 8,800 on the VERY MINIMAL features that we requested. Basically, we were asking for a 5 spd manual with A/C and floormats. That's IT. These guys, though...oh no. We finally agreed to the price after financing at 8,400. We thought we were getting a great deal.

We had asked these motherfuckers at LEAST TEN TIMES about the A/C to make SURE that the car HAD it. Oh yeah, the car had it. Yeah, it had it. Yeah, it has A/C. OVER AND OVER AND OVER. It was SURREAL.

We actually WORKED OUT A DEAL with these pieces of shit, and SIGNED ALL THE DOCUMENTS. The car was OURS. We had the keys in our hands, and were getting ready to drive it off of the lot. The salesman was transferring my old plates over to the new car. Then my girlfriend got in the car, and, guess what. NO FUCKING A/C. IT WAS FUCKING UNBELIEVABLE. They were DELIBERATELY trying to deceive us. Both the salesman and the manager knew EXACTLY the car that they were dealing with. The car was parked, regularly (every time we were there) right next to the front door. They were AWFUL familiar with it- because it was Package 1 of the bottom of the barrel. We were looking for Package 2 (which included A/C).

This doesn't sound as bad, probably, as we experienced it, but I guaranatee that with the SHIT that we went through bargaining and them telling us OVER AND OVER and the DECEPTION involved (we would have been deceived out of about EIGHT HUNDRED DOLLARS if my g/f hadn't caught it before leaving), it was just unbelievable. I was the one warning her to not trust these guys, yet when they told me it had A/C I was the one trusting them, and she was the one who looked for proof.

what is it with the corporate goons thinking they can just screw anyone and everyone?

It's gotten so much worse the last few years. I wonder why?

LOL

at least you're drunk now and can vent.

I hate it when someone so transparently tries to rip me off. It's an insult to my intelligence as well as a ripoff.

23. Yeah, we left the dealership after voiding all the documents.
They even tried to get away with not voiding all of them.

If there are any lawyers who are familiar with sales law, that would be great...the financing guy tried to get away with voiding only the bill of sale and a couple of other things. I wasn't playing that game, told him to void everything else.

Can they play around with the lower copies, though? Is there anything they can do to try to hold us as owners of that bullshit car?

19. At that point, it was time to have some fun...
... with them. "Do you know what fraud by conversion is, and what the penalties are for it?"

"Do you know what I'm going to put about you and your dealership in my letter to Hyundai USA headquarters? I'm even learning Korean so I can cuss you out properly."

"Should I call the district attorney's office, or will you?"

"I'm thinking of that line from 'Animal House', you know the one about Flounder: 'Face it, you fucked up, you trusted us.'"

"Are you aware that you just proved that every cliched stereotype about car salesmen is true?"

"Let's just settle this amicably--I give you the car keys, you give me my check, I beat you over the head with my cast, and we tear up the contract, okay?"

Etc., etc. :P

22. The best part was the confrontation in the front office.
Edited on Fri May-20-05 01:57 AM by BullGooseLoony
The Salesman (actually an alright guy, although I believe he was complicit in the fraud, just a 22-year-old young guy who had *apparently* been working there for only 4 weeks) shrugging his shoulders at me while I'm dealing directly with the manager. We'd spoken with the manager earlier today on the phone- he had told us that this particular car, which we were supposedly quoting the MSRP on (although we hadn't been- I'd been quoting the price with shipping etc., much higher than the ACTUAL MSRP), had A/C. Completely in line with what the salesman had been telling us. He (the manager) even tried to suck us out of another $400 when dealing with the college financing rebate, even though he knew he was already WAY in the black because we thought we were getting a Package 2 when he was only letting us leave with a Package 1. Tried to act like he'd already given us that in the quote. We beat him back on that.

Of course, he capitulated so quickly because he knew he'd already pulled one over on us. Total fraud. FRAUD FRAUD FRAUD.

We'd been dealing with the rest of these dealerships via email. I swear, I wish we had been with this guy, too. If I coulda gone in there and shoved a printed-out email in his face saying A/C for 8,800 that would have felt so good.

As it was, though, I called him a liar in front of just about all of his staff. He said he didn't tell us it had A/C. LIE. And he knew it. 'OH, YES YOU DID.' Staring a hole through his head. "I'm sorry, I can't sell you car."

Yeah, he bitched out. Repuke piece of fucking shit conniving motherfucker.

Hey, if any of you live in Central Illinois and want to know what dealership NOT to go to, PM me and I'll tell you.

25. I've spent my time working in dealerships...
... (in the back, not the front), and the 22-year-old "alright guy"(s) are just as sleazy as the more experienced ones. They're just not as good at it yet. They just lack experience in the fine points of deceit. :P

26. Yeah, at first we didn't pin this on the salesman, too,
Edited on Fri May-20-05 02:07 AM by BullGooseLoony
but the more I thought about it the more I realized that the salesman knew EXACTLY what he was doing. He was familiar with the car. You know what I mean? He knew what he was he was selling to us.

I've got his home phone number, too. Was thinking about calling him up and inviting him over for a beer (he apparently lives right across the street). Might still do that, but, I'll be a little more forward with him.

totally screwed my old man. My mom is the negotiator in our family. She drives a hard bargain. But my dad went alone to purchase a new vehicle, and my mom figures he was screwed out of around two grand when the fine print settled.

There isn't much integrity in the car lots these days, but then was there ever?

Sorry about all your troubles, especially the fuckwad professor. Hope he gets sawtoothed crotch crickets!

On edit: No, wait, that's SABER-toothed crotch crickets!

I think I got him good. I doubt most people confront him with the degree of care and integrity that I hit him with today. It was fairly obvious in his response that he didn't have much to justify what he did.

Feels good that we ALMOST got ripped-off today. Isn't that weird? But it's true. We were THIS CLOSE!!! We had the keys and were about to drive the car off the LOT after signing ALL of the papers.
